You get charged now, which I prefer anyway.
Depends on how you pay. If you do PayPal, they charge immediately. If you do credit card, they charge when it ships. At least, that’s how it went for me when I preordered their Friday the 13th box set and the King Kong 76 blu-ray.
I think he's referring to the 4:3 version (Full Screen), not the 1.85:1 version (Theatrical).
It depends on whether or not this is a full remaster. If so, it may be cleaner than the previous release or have better colors. It could also be worse.
Yeah, but all full screen typically is, is just the theatrical version with the sides cut off and zoomed to fit.
Not in this case, the 4:3 version really does show more footage.
Do we know if us Europeans can get a Region B version of this steelbook? Would be nice if the old continent got some love as well...... : /
That may true in some cases, but the Transformers movie was originally drawn at 1.4:1 and matted to 1.85:1.
According to the OP, there will be a UK distribution, but is it known if that's the steelbook version or just the standard edition? I think the steelbook would look great with my Unicron / SS86 display.
Actually just purchased this and 'Battle among the Stars' w/ the Sybil Danning figure and they charged my credit card.
Got my preorder in. This is only the 2nd old school animated 4K movie that I’m buying, and I haven’t watched the other one, so this will be a first watching old school animation in 4K. It would be super cool if there was a Dolby Atmos track, but I kinda doubt it. Still exited for this, and that steelbook art is amazing!
Awesome job, @Arco2002 - I love that the Dinobots/Devastator showdown made the cover of the standard edition!
Really hoping we get the standard edition cover and the steelbook interior as posters/prints. That image of Unicron from the steelbook is
interesting, hope it's better then the BR transfer!
I just got an Xbox Series X, but I've had a 4K tv a while (not HDR sadly) so I'm looking forward to giving this a spin!
Why would you buy something knowing you don't have funds?
Serious as a hart attack question here.
You are going to be waiting a very long time as the 4k steelbook is exclusive to Shout Factory. There maybe some up on Amazon Marketplace later in the year at a significant mark up. If you want it I would not wait.
rather have the art of the non steelbook version, But I dont see it up for preorder
Pre-ordered. Mainly for the new artwork, looks beautiful!
What I'd love to see for a 40th anniversary (yeah I know !) Would be something like a directors cut, for them to add in some of the scenes that were never animated but which were story boarded. Obviously in many cases would need to be shots with no dialogue since sadly so many have left us but the battle at autobot city could be extended, for example.
I dunno, feel free to ignore me lol.
The non-steelbook will be up for preorder "later this summer", according to last Friday's livestream. No date has been announced to my knowledge.
I'm waiting for that version as well, I've lost the desire for steelbooks and random physical extras over the years, but I'm glad the brand is healthy enough to be able to offer them for others.
It would never match up right.
The J-card for the Steelbook is shown on the Amazon US listing and confirms we have HDR10 and Dolby Vision, with a 5.1 DTS-HD MA audio track. Sadly no Dolby Atmos but probably understandable
Yep there's definitely a UK release confirmed, just waiting for Funimation/Manga UK to get their listing up. It'll probably be the exact same discs as the US (like we had with the 30th Anniversary edition) but the Blu-Ray will be Region B. Hopefully we don't have to wait too long in comparison to the US.
Still, yay for Dolby Vision
Maybe because I expected not to be charged immediately and I would have funds available when it ships. I'm sure I'm not the only person who tried this.
Does anybody have any idea how long this pre-order will last? There's also an eBay auction with a pre-order for this showing 9 copies available at the moment but selling for about $20 more obviously buy directly from Shout first if it's still an option.
