I need to know more about extras and see screen comparisons, as I have both the Rhino and Sony versions on DVD.

I have the 2 Disc Sony DVD set and the 2 Disc Metrodome DVD set, so hopefully we get both the 16:9 and 4:3 format on the the blu ray and proper release of the Scramble City OVA with Japanese Language and English Subtitles.

I don't like the artwork either and I didn't know who the artist was.

I know this will never happen but I wish they could animate the unused storyboard scenes to make an extended movie. How cool would it be (for instance) to see Ultra Magnus, Sideswipe, Tracks and Red Alert force Devastator to decombine with the missile barrage. There were so many unused storyboard scenes that would make The Battle of Autobot City longer and even cooler than it already is.

Heck...even animate the scene from the IDW comic where Omega Supreme, Superion and Defensor are battling Menasor and Bruticus at The Ark.

It's about slagging time. I have the 20th anniversary version, but the Blu-Ray will be a welcome addition. I just hope the features are new and not carry overs from the previous one.

Plus is it too much to ask for a digital copy as well? I would like to have a copy for when I'm feeling nostalgic and doing cardio at the gym to watch on my tablet.

Hasbro, be a bro for once and make it happen.

Plus I don't really mind the cover, Livio's work really isn't all too different from the original when it comes to the boxy styled figure work, it just needs the airbrush coloring done to it.

Those of us who remember (or old enough)when Transformers came with the fold out product sheets that showed all of the current figure offerings with all the TFs posed and named should remember the artwork that was on the back that showcased the TFs fighting in space or around Metroplex in a painted image(that one showed up on lunch boxes a lot), his work is very reminiscent of that art.

This page states that it will have a Digital Copy. It says Blu-Ray/Digital and DVD/Digital.

These press releases are always in regard to the country they are advertising to, in this case the US/CAN. And this is indeed the first time the film is coming to Blu-ray in the US/CAN. Shout Factory doesn't officially release in any other market than North America, as they only get licensing rights to titles in the US/CAN market.

That cover. It sucks. It sucks a lot. It'll be nice to finally have it on blu ray though.

Yeah I hope its where you can choose the format you prefer when you redeem the copy code. I kind hope it turns up on Amazon Instant video for purchase myself because I get a lot of my digital copies there, but I've never seen a Shout Factory product aside for season one of Transformers G1 on there for purchase.

I know a lot of people like hard copies, so do I, but having the option to load up downloadable versions for trips or what not to take on the fly is nice. I don't see why more of the older shows don't turn up for sale.

I hope they've been able to fix the sound this time. All of the DVD releases and the UK Blu ray release have that issue where loud sounds suddenly go very quiet, like Unicron's maw blast or Optimus lauching into the air from truck mode. It happens throughout the whole movie and really takes away a lot of the impact on a surround sound system.

    Oh yes they do! :D
