The set will have a brand new documentary called “Til All Are One” with interviews with members of the cast and crew, including story consultant Flint Dille, cast members Gregg Berger, Neil Ross, Dan Gilvezan, singer/songwriter Stan Bush, composer Vince Dicola and others. In addition, there will be audio commentary by director Nelson Shin, story consultant Flint Dille, and star Susan Blu and more. Along with all or most of season 2, evidently...

EDIT: I've only spot checked up through Five Faces of Darkness part 1, but so far it looks like only season 1 is scanned from film. The rest appears to consist of very good upscales. They used an automated IVTC process to restore the footage to 24 FPS and avoid interlacing artifacts, and they used very good antialiasing and motion compensation to fix the frames that were missed by the IVTC. It's a good deal better than the results you'd get automatically from running the DVDs through Handbrake or Avisynth without checking every episode frame-by-frame, but there are still tells. I don't know if that means no negatives exist after the first season, or if it means they gave up on rescanning the negatives after that.

At $40, it's not a bad deal at all. And the quality is better than DVD. But it's still a long way from a proper HD restoration.

I'm pretty sure "oh shit" is the only version, it was edited out on the first VHS release (and any network tv airings). I don't think there was a legit recorded version without the expletive. If there was feel free to correct me.

I know I'm digging this one up, but I want to know if there is any news on the Steelbook. It looks nice but it's pricey. Is there any difference in what they come with?

I can't offer any news about the steelbook, but I think this thread is technically current until sometime after it actually gets released.

Dammit to hell! The big one I wanted was Scramble City. Hopefully Shout Factory gets the rights to release it and Zone in the US soon.

As with most new Blu-Rays of existing DVDs, there are usually some special features that get left out. So I end up keeping both.

No commercials in a movie made to sell commercials! No scramble city or zone! No the touch or dare to be stupid music video?, No deleted scenes and storyboards?, They didn't import the fan commentary? It was better then the main one. Dang looks like folks will need to hang on to their old release.

Edit--Ok I take it all back. They got the full trailer and not just the teaser! I give this release my thumbs up just for that alone! Good job shout factory!

Looks like the Madman release with Scramble City original Japanese with English subtitles will be staying in the collection.
