    I
I wanted a 3 hour TF, but I recently watched TF4 and now I remember why it would be a bad idea.
Peter Jackson's Lord Of the Rings are 3 hour films and I never once complained. I don't think Bay and his team can handle another 3hr film.

So it's still longer than the first. I'm totally fine with it though. 2h 30 mins?

I might be in the minority on this, but I like certain kinds of movies to be longer than 2 hours. If I'm paying theater prices to enjoy it, I want to get my money's worth on a visual feast. I don't even bother with anything under 110 minutes in theater anymore. 120+ or it better be some kind of life changing movie experience in theater if it's shorter.

It is. Especially if it's like AoE and we have extended sequences without any Transformers on screen.

There's a reason they give Oscars for editing. A well paced and tightly edited movie can do a lot with 90 minutes.

THIS. I NEVER understood the long movie = bad complaints. If all the ticket prices are going to be the same, you'd bet that I'd want my movies to be as long as possible. I get to sit in a nice comfy chair and enjoy the ambiance, the air-conditioning, etc... Heck, give me 6-hour movies for the same price and I'll bite.

I don't mind if a movie is long but let it be long because the content is good and well put together with good story. IMO TF1 was perfect as it wasn't super packed with many sub plots that didn't get fleshed out or lost. ROTF (granted the writers strike happened) was all over the place but the length I thought was the sweet spot for a TF movie. DOTM was also ok for length but could have used some better polish and explanation on some sub plot stuff. AOE was too long but only because some things were way drawn out like the big magnet scene. The Dinobots holding the bridge scene could have been cut altogether because it went nowhere and was meaningless in the end. And the whole under age scene should have been dropped.

Great news...now if he could get them down to under 15 mins that would be ideal.

Happy to hear this. Even as a Bayformers fan, I thought AOE was too long and dragged in some spots. Only a few more weeks!!

AoE is needlessly long, a lot of human scene could be deleted.

Wonder how many times will Marky Mark saying he is inventor.

My bladder will decide for me whether this movie is or is not too long.

In the tweet, he said shorter than the last three movies, but did not say shorter than the first film. Under that logic, it's over 143 minutes but under 150 minutes. Captain America Civil War was 146 minutes. That seems like a good running time for this movie.

I think that this movie will be shorter because they elaborated things on a different way.
All the previous sequels have been made with the same error: more attention on the humans.
RotF was originally meant by Orci and Kurtzman to create a balance between humans and robots scenes, Sam had his own problems, so the Autobots. The movie ended to be as we know it now because of the Writers stike.
DotM and AoE has been elaborated by Erhen Kruger, and, well, we all know.....

My point is: most runtime has always been taken by the humans. We have always seen this kind of "plot":
the human protagonist has his life but then a event, or situation, changes his life and the protagonist ends up in the conflict, trying to solve a mistery related to the Transformers and helping the Autobots.

Transformers: The Last Knight starts with Cade and the Autobots already togheter, hunted by the TRF, and this situation regards both Autobots and Decepticons. The whole mistery behind shows up new Transformers, like Cogman, Hot Rod and Bulldog, and the mistery itself is focused on the Knights of Cybertron. Moreover, Optimus is travelling searching for the Creators, who brainwash him, so Prime is against the Autobots.

The whole plot startes from the first minutes, humans and robots are already togheter, and the new characters are introduced without wasting time.

Important note: if the runtime is shorter, but the budget is the highest yet (supposedly $260m, or $50 more than AOE), then we might finally have a movie with more Transformers than humans.

    Interesting, and great news actually!

Here are the running times we are playing with:
    AOE: 2h 45 min
    DOtM: 2h 37 min
    ROTF: 2h 30 min

Those are with credits I believe. So if it is shorter by a lot, that would make it a bit longer or as long as the first film!
