So far, almost every Transformers: The Last Knight Autobot figure revealed has been a repaint of an Age of Extinction toy. For me, this raises the following questions. Do you think that every Autobot (except maybe Cogman and Sqweeks) is going to be a repaint? Is Hasbro relying on these repaints to raise money for new molds next movie line? Am I just doomsaying or over-analyzing the situation? Please share your thoughts below.

I'm typically a defender of the movie lines, and it doesn't look promising. Sure, they're probably hiding new molds from the public for now (when's the next Toy Fair?), but knowing their propensity for repaints within each line, STARTING a line with repaints is not a good indication of what's to come.
It COULD, however, indicate that they're putting that extra money towards other awesomeness? One can only hope.
Granted, these ARE just the Premier Edition figures and not the main line.

Not going to lie kind of glad there are all these repaints, easy passes for me. Money is tight as is and the money I do spend on Titans Return & RID means I don't leave much for TLK. So kind of glad that there are only three figures I want so far and the rest I can pass on.

I'd be disappointed certainly, and would only buy the good new molds.

That is a comforting thought. I myself was considering that perhaps Hasbro can't afford too many new Movie molds, and is using these repaints to finance new molds in future movie lines.
I'd be inclined to agree. I've been meaning to slow down on collecting for a while, myself. However, it is also kind of sad at the same time, because the movies usually bring so many unique, creative, and interesting designs.

I'm pretty sure they did with at least once before with one of the movies. Having the first wave or preview wave be repaints then the new molds come out later on after the movie is out and people know what everybot looks like.

I don't mind good repaints. There are some AOE repaints I'd actually like to see: Evasion Prime repainted as Ultra Magnus, Galvatron in G1 purple, '67 Camaro Bumblebee in yellow. Going back further, I'd love to see HFTD deluxe Ironhide in G1 red and ROTF Swerve as Tracks.

No, not every singe autobot will be a repaint. Most of the repaints will be of the dinobots. There will be no cogman figure released. The reason for so many repaints is because it is cost effective. Yes, you are doomsdaying and over analyzing. Every movie line has been crappie and most collectors only cherry pick a few figures out of each line.

And that is not saying much. Deluxe scavenger, voyager Mixmaster, leader Jetfire and the horrible list of movie figures can go on and on. The only good thing to come out of the movie lines was human alliance and that's gone and is never coming back.

I honestly have this fear that TLK is going to be a repeat of DOTM, where they overloaded the first wave with repeats no one wanted and thus the figures people DID want never got made.

They'll get made but they'll never hit the stores shelves because stores overbought Wave 1 stuff that won't go away. Same thing happened to AOE, had to wait a year before I finally saw the Snarl wave and overpaid on Amazon for Wave 2.

Revenge of the fallen had alot of repaints and used every voyager and deluxe and legends figure at least one in exclusives or mainline and that was the best movie line.

Repaints are easy skips, but we have like 5 new robots? Lol

It is scary that the first toys we get to see are all repaints.
And i had high unrealistic hopes that we could get lots of cool original altmodes.

I can take this, as long as i get my TLK Submarine Transformer.

If they were all rubbish like Bumblebee I'd agree. But to me the Grimlock and Slash repaints are both pretty nice, and the Shadow Spark Optimus looks fantastic; its just on the wrong mold. If they'd use the Armor Knight or better still the new voyager I'd have been all over it.

Honestly to me this just looks like a preview assortment. Two voyagers and four deluxes that will be released a few months prior to the movie before the actual line hits. Of that set I'm already planning on pickup up both Voyagers and Crankcase. Maybe Barricade but hey I'm still in for at least 50%.

We had this with ROTF, in fact a vast majority of the mainline molds from Movie 1 ended up being used in that line. I wouldn't worry, especially seeing as the lineup seems more focused upon the primary size classes this time, as opposed to AOE's scattershot affair.
