Mold's got its fair share of bot mode details that could be a "close enough" fit for Playback, especially his later comic appearances.

SS86 Jazz is one of the most notorious victims of clear plastic breakages, so I'd grab this one just in case to have a G1 style Jazz if the 86 one breaks.

I am also getting this so I can try to swap the head sculpt onto SS86 Jazz, because I really love how the Origin head looks!

 

They're accessory packs. It's not like Centurion or Tricranius needed to be able to use all the extra pieces in those packs. They just charged a voyager price for a nobody repaint of an existing deluxe figure and added a bunch of extra accessories. They could do something like re-use the Knock Out mould repainted as Rapido with a bunch of accessories and call it a $38 accessories pack

 

My heart sunk on the mention of MW Megatron being a tiny Deluxe. And a Soundwave that's as tall as Blaster...?

Are they abandoning unified scale, or just retconing scale? Or is it just TakaraTomy who is enforcing scale?

There are quite a few people who seem to think Hasbro has a greater say in how the robots look.

We now have an official statement by a Hasbro rep that no, Hasbro can make recommendations, but they don't have final say over their own franchise's appearance even after the Bumblebee movie.

 

From what I understand, mw megatron was a basic figure, so a deluxe would make sense. Don't understand the blaster comment though

 

Would love to see tetrajet versions of Bitstream and Sunstorm, or tetrajet versions of the coneheads. earth mode Slipstream maybe?!

 

Yeah, MW Megs was a Basic class figure. But, like... Blaster was what, twice as tall as Optimus as G1 figures? Beast Wars Scorponok towered over Tigatron and Rhinox as vintage toys. Sure, Machine Wars didn't have a cartoon, but G1 Megatron(who MW Megatron is) has an established size already in the modern line. If he was Deluxe price point, either he'd be hollowed out to fragility to match the height, or he wouldn't match his already-established height.

I just don't understand the logic with the current team.

 

Adding Origins Jazz to my list of \"Must Haves\"

I\'ve waited nearly 40 years for a G1 Cybertronian Jazz!

 

The jazz looks great will go perfect in my Cybertron siege display. Only matter of time before we get wheeljack in cybertronian mode

 

tbh i'd be fine with versions where prime and megs aren't the tallest. does give nice variety compared to all the ones where they get giant
*edit: plus it's no difference from the people wanting a core/deluxe bat primal and gator megs, some versions can just be smaller than the norm

 

It might be best to not use the roof hole in jazz it might crack the over-painted clear plastic if it's got to support such a large gun

 

This new jazz mold turns into what is essentially a tube, and a faux chest. this could easily be reshelled into a fulcrum, or keep the current alt mode if hasbro doesnt want to make a suicide bomb transformer.

 

so who do I have to send money to, to get those folks some proper quality mics and webcams, fuck sake.

 

It's cool that Hasbro can still, occasionally, reveal something new before the army of listing leakers and production sample pirates remove all surprises.

Ori-Jazz looks pretty cool, and has my inner grump asking "Why wasn't this released within/alongside the Siege line with Origins Bumblebee?" (as opposed to some of the Siege molds that didn't fit the Cybertronian theme as well). Won't stop me from trying to get one, however.

 

I thought of Aileron when I saw this Jazz too. A glyph and Tapout would rock.

Couple other left field ideas…. Mainline RotB Airazor as Energon Divebomb …or maybe a Rid15 Filch.

 

Wow this came out of nowhere, did not even know there would be a fan-stream. Jazz looks awesome, really curious how they make all that alt mode disappear for the robot mode.

 

It'd be nice if they made a van Wheeljack to go with the Bee and Jazz they've made, maybe a lamp-post Soundwave with pre-Earth Laserbeak as well.
