For anyone who wanted to be a Transformer as a kid, there is a new virtual reality videogame that has just opened up in Dubai Mall’s Virtual Reality Park.

The game – which puts you inside a robotic shell – sees you playing the role of Autobot Bumblebee as he defends the world against a Decepticon invasion. The game was put together by virtual reality company RobocomVR with help from Hasbro (the makers of Transformers).

For the past twenty years virtual reality has dazzled gamers with the prospect of a fully immersive experience. But the tech has yet to deliver on this promise. Fortunately, companies such as Robocom – as well as new purpose-built venues such as Dubai VR Park – are looking to change that.


The game has now been officially launched, at a star-studded launch by ITP Gaming in Al Badayer Fort.

Speaking to Esquire at this year’s Dubai Games Convention, “Gaming is about evolution," Ibrahim said at the recent Digital Games Conference. "Don’t get me wrong, traditional console gaming is fantastic but I don't imagine having the ability to be inside a game rather than playing it on the screen wouldn't be more exciting. The immersive experience is the future.”

The game will be open at Dubai Mall’s VR Park over the coming weeks.

As much as I'd love to see it, I know it'll never be available to me. So even if it exists in some massive city somewhere on the coasts? Meh.

Interesting if basic, although I don't know why I was surprised they used the evergreen designs

 

Weird that they mostly have the Cyberverse/evergreen designs while starscream has his potp look

 

Can we get this ported to the PS4 VR?

I do not believe I currently have room in my basement for this setup.
If it is G1 and I can get it for a reasonable cost, I may make the room.  

G1 in VR is what I have been waiting for.

 

Why is every TF game after FOC a pile of shit visually? Why are they using old assets? No matter how big of a thing the game is, they still find a way to weasel out of making new assets.

EDIT: wait, forgot about the glory of Devastation. Every game after Devastation looks shit.

 

There's a trailer here with actual gameplay. I am honestly blown away by how bad this looks. Did all the money go into the VR machine itself or something?

This is just proof that Hasbro doesn't know what they are doing with the video game market. Everything video game wise that they have had since Devastation has been pure garbage, including their freemium mobile games.
I miss love being put in to Transformers games cause their is a lack of that... Battlegrounds and this make me very sad for the future of Transformers video games as a whole.

Even if this came out on PC VR platforms, I wouldn't touch it judging by that trailer.

What the fuck?   There's no way someone didn't get swindled here. It has to be some money laundering scheme or something based on how bad that trailer looked.

 

That trailer is a massive setback for Transformers video games, which at this point is a real statement even based on how garbage some of the other games to bear the name look. WTH?

 

That game was surprising fun. Wish Unicron transformed at the end but I enjoyed the enemy types and the open world nature of it. Plus having Hotshot ragdoll every time he was killed was pretty amusing.

 

Now, when someone says to me VR, I’m thinking Augmented Reality, which I’m told is pretty cool and Pokémon Go was a thing.

Imagine having a Google Glass or AR setup and your walking down a city street and look up to find a massive hand envelop the top of a building. Devastator has arrived. You need to distract and provide cover fire as the Autobots mount a counter attack against the giant gestalt. All interacting in real time with the environment.

That’s what I thought I’d see here.

 

While development was awfully discreet, RobocomVR has just released their new Transformers VR game to the world, debuting at the Al Badayer Fort.

The game will put the player in control of either Optimus Prime or Bumblebee as they wage war against the Decepticons which will include a single player and multiplayer mode to compete with friends.

Another small thing to note is RobocomVR has decided to roll with the Evergreen designs.

This game is not to be confused with Minority Media’s Transformers: VR Battle Arena arcade game.
