Good day to all u good and knowledgeable people from TFW2005, I would like to seek your help by giving me advices and opinions on who are the rivalries/arch-enemies/nemesis between the transformers, as I'll be accumulating my collection based on 1 bot vs 1 con.

I know this this a weird way of collecting, but to each his own, this is my collecting style. Some of the pairings are also done due to the toys sharing same mold or them having the same role.

The greatest challenge at the moment is the pairing between the headmasters. Which bot should I remove or is there a con I can add in to make it 4 v 4?

Raiden often dealt with Predaking since takara didn't have the license for sky lynx.

Sky Lynx is Predaking's rival...but I guess you're going by the web cartoons.

Omega supreme is devastator's rival...not Raiden.

For the headmasters the horrorcons would team up with the 3 headmasters to make it 5 vs 4. Of course the horrorcons had their own rivals in the monsterbots.

Decepticons will often have multiple rivals for the same character.

You're right. Supreme is devastator's rival. But I paired dev and raiden as both are 6-bots combiner. Same goes for volcanicus and predaking. I'll have to think through this again.

 

I believe Lockdown would be much more at home as Ratchet’s, Prowl’s, or of I’m remembering Animated correctly, even Arcee’s Nemesis.

I think Airazor would be a more fitting Nemesis for Black Arachnia.

 

Lockdown goes better with Ratchet. I don't think Devcon and Lockdown have ever interacted in any form of existing fiction we have.

Bumblebee VS Starscream. Please no. What an unfair pairing.

Arcee could fight Airachnid.

Jazz should fight Skywarp. Hope you got where I got that idea  

 

Bumblebee VS Starscream works, as they're both polar opposites.

I don't really see Ironhide as Shockwave's rival. Maybe he could go against Soundwave? I feel like Prowl and Shockwave work better as they seem better foils for one another.

 

Shockwave's counterpart would be Prowl. He himself called Prowl his "opposite" during the original IDW run. Both are all about logic.

I'd also pair Bumblebee against Ravage. Both are spies.

Dude, buddy I know exactly what you're doing since I have gone down this path before. It only leads to frustration, coming out of Beast Wars where they did a very good job of having direct rivalries (I mean Rampage Vs. Depth Charge anyone?) but instead of waiting for the source material to tell me who should face off with whom I just collected so that my sides are even and once I had the figures I wanted I paired them off in rivalries based on who I had and what felt right to me.

For example, I am getting Siege Astrotrain and Jetfire soon and I've paired them off because they are both larger bots who are both the troop transporters for their respective armies. Now there is nothing in the canon that links these two characters, Hell I'm not even sure if they have ever interacted before but it just makes sense when you think about it.

So basically what I'm saying is don't worry about canonical rivalries, just keep your sides even so that your collection is balanced and symmetrical otherwise your drive yourself crazy.
