I wish Wheeljack looked more like Wheeljack.

Nightbird looks solid and will probably look even better in CG.

I find it funny that they're making a movie set in Brooklyn and Wheeljack won't have a Brooklyn accent.

Wheeljack's lower face is giving me Ezra Miller vibes. Those are not good vibes.

Bear in mind, that was a single part of a model in a movie that gave it a few different render passes to make sure all the lighting, textures and more worked and properly blended in. That's not the same as this movie nor is that necessarily how movies work. You can finish a CG model but there's a lot more that goes into it from rigging it to a skeleton to making sure all the parts behave themselves (Especially on Transformers which have a crazy amount of individual pieces to keep track of.), making sure textures play nice with one another, that the lighting works, that the animation works in conjunction with the footage and more. Also while budget can and does play a part in CG animation? As we've seen from Bumblebee, lower budgets don't necessarily mean a reduction in quality, it's more about the talent behind it and the time they have to do it and the thing is? This has happened before with Transformers and has been happening with movies period.

The thing about trailers and the content contained within them is that it's footage and effects in what would be considered to be a presentable state. It's finished enough to be shown but it still might have kinks. The rendering hasn't been finished fully, the lighting and color correction may differ from what comes to theaters and in some cases the CG looks a little rough. AOE especially showed this as multiple teasers showed the same close-up shot of Optimus before he faced off with Galvatron. Find the exact frames or those that are close-enough and you could do a proper timelapse showing the progress. It may look a little rough now... but a lot can change in a couple months and we've seen for movies before how in just a few months a massive glow-up can happen.

Always someone says something like this makes me want the review so much to show how wrong they are.

You're literally saying it took the CGI literally years to build a CGI model that already existed and all they had to do was copy it, with the implication they're still not done. They aren't re-inventing the wheel here.

A "glow up" isn't going to fix rampant CGI problems, even AoE has some very notable screwups in its CGI that were worse than what the original trailers had.

Personally not crazy about Wheeljack's look. Only thing that can redeem him for me at this point is how the character is portrayed. Even if some sort of explanation is given for his reformatted Earth-form, still don't see why aspects that make Wheeljack so easily identifiable couldn't be retained. Save for a few misses they nailed a lot of things right aesthetically with Bumblebee, in my opinion, and I was hopeful a lot of that would carry over to this movie. Some has, for certain things I'm still on the fence, but this is a big miss.

With Bumblebee they took a step away from the Bayverse designs, and the Cybertron scenes gave lots of us what we've been wanting to see for some time. It wasn't perfect but I saw it as a step in the right direction. An acknowledgement of sorts that relatable colors and designs for these characters are actually a good thing. Wheeljack's new design for me takes a huge leap right back towards Bay's hideous designs and I hope he's the exception.

What's funny is Bee Movie Arcee and Wheeljack are both roughly the same size/scale (Deluxe) but when they get to Earth Arcee will end up being Core sized while Wheeljack will, at minimum, be Deluxe.

Will anybody pretend to be confused with that change as they are with the change in Wheeljack's bot mode?

That's how almost every single movie production budget operates. They offer the gigs out, and often go with the lowest bidder.

this is the arcee design i wanted but with an earth alt mode
but we cant have what we want, also for anyone loving wheeljack in that cybertron scene? there are other designs that never got and never will get a toy, but whatever, there is something called an opinion(alko i hated bbm soundwave, shockwave, ironhide, ratchet and brawn, there have been better "g1 reinterpretations" somewhere else)(only liked wheeljack, but not everything about his design, of course arcee, ravage a bit, and of course the seekers)

Man, Wheeljack looks fun. I wish he didn’t have the panelled face, but alt mode and everything else about robot mode looks nerdy and fun. Adds some variety to group shots, for sure.

Sheesh so many people on Twitter have gaslit themselves into thinking this is a good design that they've become more annoying than the people upset about it

Seriously though I counted at least 6 ways the area under the glasses could be painted like a face of it's own. Face-Inception. Lol

Yeah it's pretty disappointing that her hood is unpainted and the whole car front ends up unbroken as her chest. Also her proportions are just gangly. I can't tell if she's supposed to have digitigrade legs or not.
