That Wheel jack can be repainted as a Mystery Machine .. or the TMNT Turtle Van!

 

The duck lips are the main gripe. What .. why ..

I will say that the Bee movie Wheeljack head was pretty good... So not sure why they changed it so much....

 

Nope. There is a massive amount of moving parts you have to take into account on them, and judging from the trailer’s poor CGI, they are struggling. From poorly rendered surfaces to Optimus having incorrectly rigged shoulders that clip through his torso. I’m guessing you haven’t looked into the work behind movie VFX if you just assume one is easier to do over the other and that’s it. Both animals and robots are a very complex and difficult things to render and animate, that’s why specific companies/VFX houses usually focus on one or the other and specialize in that field.

It’s also the reason many movies have multiple VFX houses working for them, because they all handle different aspects.

 

You can photoshop all the glowy ears on ROTB Wheeljack you want, but in the movie he's still gonna be voiced by Cristo Fernandez.



Fernandez has charisma bursting out of his pores. I say let ROTB Wheeljack be ROTB Wheeljack.

 

Wow.. People who make these movies seem to have a pathological hatred for Wheeljack. First movie he shows up in killed him off as a begging coward then.. this? It's almost like a psychological study at this point.

The other one looks fine enough.

You know something... I was thinking, What If WheelJack's glasses were to be split apart... to transform into the side fins of the side of his face and then he would have a battle mask. That would make his face a bit more accurate.

You would be wrong to assume that, since TF Movies have designs that are objectively goofier and stupider than most G1 designs could ever hope to be.
They are clearly fine with being stupid and goofy, it's just that they do it with racist-scandal-inducing twins or by turning Wheeljack into a pug-ugly Urkel Robot, because the people making these movies are bad at making movies, their continuing success reminds us only of how easy Hollywood's work is.

 

Something something G1 bad or whatever. It doesn't matter if the designs are ugly as fuck. These people will be happy as long it doesn't look anything like existing source material.

 

Lol. Hey don’t try to say robots are much easier to do if you don’t want an actual response on how VFX works.

I’m simply recognizing they are far better at one skill set than another. No need to get mad.

This makes so much sense. I’d love for that element of his original design to go from ornamental to functional. I doubt it’ll happen, but it’s a great concept.

 

Wheeljack looks boring, and lacks the recognizability of the same character from just the previous film. The only thing that’s amazing about Wheeljack is how hard of a time Hasbro seems to have making vans.

Nightbird just flat out sucks.


After how many years making TF toys?

 

People saying "Well, the BB Movie Wheeljack was only in it for a second," are missing the point. The whole purpose of that scene was to establish a stronger bond back to the original source material. If that wasn't considered important, then they wouldn't have done it, but they did and it is. And guess what? It's probably the most talked about part of that movie, by fans and casual movie-viewers alike.

So again, I wanna know who screamed SO LOUD to the studio execs that they decided to undo it. Who ABSOLUTELY NEEDED this?

 

Also, it doesn't really matter how long he was in the movie. He was in the BB movie and we saw his face. That design is canon. Plus, it's not like had to copy and paste that design. They still had some creative liberty to do something interesting with the alternative mode parts to spice things up. Instead, they took the uncreative route and made something up from nothing. And it looks like ass.

 

This is definitely a live action transformers thread. 100%.
