That's really it. This whole design is so plain an uninspired. Maybe it's the toy's limited palette exacerbating it, but from the glimpses in the trailer he doesn't seem to have any particularly distinct kibble, colours, or design elements.

 

So you're gonna claim he's a different wheeljack? Because forgive me, I'm incline to believe it's him, given arcee shows up alongside him, and last I checked, we were given no reason to assume a new wheeljack replaced the old one. I can understand some like this design, but I don't believe you think this is a new one. If he is, I'd shut it.

What makes me less inclined to argue its a different wheeljack is characterization. Drop prime wheeljack into bb and then this guy shows up then yeah, id say sure, he's probably someone else.

But this guy is clearly the nerd stereotype, so unless there's two wheeljacks out there, and the one that doesn't look like wheeljack is a weird stereotype of nerds and scientists, wheeljacks famous thing, they're probably someone else. Feel free to feed me my words if I turn out wrong later. They could do so easily, it wouldn't be the first time. We've had two swindles in a universe after all

Well though they are not terrible as such, I think I am happy to wait for a sale on them as well they are really really tiny, and I find Nightbird's mismatched wheels distasteful. They made Hotrod look super Premium though....

Mostly I don't rush to buy Studio Series toys like these as they are just to darn titchy though. They are so small they become needlessly fiddly.
It makes me end up looking at them and thinking of I can't wait to see the 17cm KO so I can actually have a toy in a more managable size.

But Like I said, not terrible but they are something I am quite happy to wait to be on clearance.

Shame Nightbird didn't swap out the Gold for Silver and "Wheeljack" the brown for Red and Green.

I'd be interested in repaints/ remoulds of these as the prior Volkswagon from The Last Knight and also as another Girl with the Proper Nightbird accuate colours like Shadowstriker say.

They do look rather bland, it's surprising this is the same company that turned the Dinobots into a sentai team as they thought they looked to bland then they make super boring in terms of decoration stuff like this.

I’d argue that coming up with a brand new design completely is more creative than a G1 rehash. Not that G1 inspired designs are bad. I like basically every Wheeljack design. Not a huge fan of the Sideswipe lookin one from Armada tbh.

Nah I just think going ‘wow this doesn’t look like G1!?? There’s no creativity involved’ is wrong.

 

It appears they haven’t learned anything about the nice, brighter color palettes from Bumblebee, and have crept back into weird Bayverse decisions or predominantly brown and beige figures.

- Has the design I don't like
- Has the character I don't like
- Has a beef or personal bad experience with the one in charge of the movie

Why should I wait and give them a chance? Better yet, why should I pay for them?

 

Then Paramount succeeded at poisoning the movie franchise.

At least BM Silverbolt has a bit of an excuse within the story, it was an entirely new body relative to his BW body

Welcome to movie season, the worst time to be a TF fan. There will never be a good explanation for why Arcee looks like she does while "Wheeljack" looks like this. It isn't even consistent with his other dumbass look which is kind of funny. Of course the colors and alt mode alone told us this should have been a new character from the get go. Well it told us, but apparently it tells the folks at Paramount and Hasbro absolutely nothing because this dumbass crap is still happening.

What a total mess again. It must be the hardest thing in the Universe to make a competent TF movie if after 7 tries we are getting bird face goggle eyed rusted mystery machine "Wheeljack." I'm pretty sure I could half ass my next shit and make a better product.

Seriously, isn't the skyline solid dark grey with a gold skirt? Why would they not keep that up? Unless these aren't final...

It'd be funny if the bronze/yellow color is the result of discoloration like on the yellowing thread.

What people missed is that, even if the decision to make this Soyjack into a stereotypical nerd is to portray him as... "scientist", the decision is entirely missed the point of the character since WJ is more of battle scientist, as compared to let's say... Que or Perceptor.

 

I can say confidently that the people behind this aren't that creative.

about nightbird, if only her chest transformed a little bit more, , from the pic of the underside of the vehicle mode it looks like a single pin connects the front to the hood, but i doubt i has anything to do with transformation, but still i kinda hope if not officially that one can "mod" it to at least rotate because seriously it looks so boring
also, the lower legs have the joint but thei put a tab to prevent them to go full "chicken leg" wtf hasbro, do not limit us like that
the last thing i dont like is that she has 2 purple colors , face and hood has some violet and everything else is PURPLE, why not use a single shade and thats it, that would have been way better in my opinion
