I assumed it was when I got a 3d trailer for it when I saw Avatar the Way of Water.

 

Most movies are not worth the 3D price. Funnily enough Dark of the Moon is an exception

 

Am I the only one who actively likes 3D movies? Never got sick, never had any eye problems or anything. I just grab my mojito, put on the glasses over my own glasses, and enjoy the show!

 

I generally enjoyed it when I saw films in 3D. D: I just don't go to the theater that much anymore.

3d should always be another format like dvd is to a bluray set is to 4k+ set....ad infinitum.
I lament that 3d did not catch on in the U.S. and always strive to purchase my movie discs collection with the 3d component.
Here's hoping of course, that the 3d version won't just be limited to theatrical screenings but will make it into the home releases.

 

The problem is 3D is not an optical improvement. It is a gimmick that has existed in different forms for over 70 years. It is a fad that comes and goes. Even though it is niche, I think everyone should have the option to view movies the way they enjoy them. I actually like to old style red/blue 3D of the 1950's-1970's. A lot of cool classic horror and sci-fi movies were presented that way.

However the 3D TV's IMHO were a huge waste, as was packaging films a decade ago in DVD/Blu Ray/3D Bundles. I have about a dozen or do of those discs I'll never play because I dont want to seek out an older flat screen TV, and Blu Ray player that can utilize them. Make them MOD for those that really want to see movies in that way, with the exception of something like Avatar and its sequels that were truly meant to eb experienced that way, not just a post-film conversion.

Personally I'll never watch a modern 3D film, they do give me a headache, but there has to be balance. The medium is enjoyed by a small minority, and it should be accessible in small quantities such they those who chose to can enjoy it in such a way.

I don't hate it, but almost all movies that get released in 3D are not shot with 3D cameras like the Avatar movies

 

Is 3D just not a thing in America or something? When I saw this post, my first thought was "how is this news?" followed by surprise reading the comments.

Over here it's more noteworthy if a big-budget action movie ISN'T released with 3D screenings. Pretty much every movie I've watched (at the cinema) in the past 5 years has been in 3D.

 

Lol 3D is still a thing?  I thought that lame trend died off a few years ago. 

 

Noap its still a thing. Problem is 3D isn't done the right way with most movies, hence why it kinda sucks. Then you have stuff like the Avatar movies where the director goes all in on the 3D and to create the best possible 3D experience. If anything I feel 3D will be even more present with the next 3 Avatar sequels championing it.
If I remember correctly, Cameron helped Bay with the 3D for DOTM, hence why it probably looked as good as it did (atleast from what I can remember from the 3D of DOTM).

 

Just asking, what's a 3D movie experience like? I never got to watch one in my current lifetime  
(Though I do have 3D glasses from my 2011 Optimus Prime figure.)

 

Can be really great (Avatar, Gravity, DOTM), or it can suck (every movie converted to 3D in post). I think the trick is to add depth to the scene rather than try and do gimmicks where stuff pops out at you.

 

I’ll watch it on Paramount +. Saw Avatar 2 in theaters and wished I had waited. $45 for tickets, food, and sticky seats just wasn’t worth it. I’m hoping it’ll make beast wars finally decent. IMO, the beast saga crap was the lowest point in transformers. Never liked the stories or the designs. Movie design isn’t half bad, and Perlman is close to godhood in my book, so if anyone can redeem a giant mechanical monkey, it’s him.

 

Can't wait for the stupid Munky to fling his poo at me... in 3D!
