Definitely a very strong concern of mine. I am praying they learned finally that the games as a service model does not work. You need a fully fleshed out compelling game, thats polished, has good story, and fun gameplay that receives new content constantly and isnt extremely paywalled, time-gated, and riddled with microtransactions. I know we are wishing for a lot, especially in this day and age of gaming, but I hope they learned to stay away from other practices like Overwatch and Valorant with little to no new content and way overpriced stuff.

It being F2P will definitely hurt it a lot

Primus, I do NOT need another game bleeding money from its players. Already had that drama with Halo Infinite.

 

Scream looks decent here, want to be hyped for this but read it’s 4 player max and was hoping for another multiplayer game like WFC/FOC. The transformers franchise lends itself so well to that game style with switching modes mixing up gameplay and speeding up matches

Nope we are still in the debacle on this one, but I don't imagine they changed it to 1st.

Yea, it could definitely work, I'm just generally not a fan of that style of game. If they did it like Fallout and Elder Scrolls where you can do 1st or 3rd person it'd be a pretty good compromise between the 2.

 

I don't think that's a possibility in the sense you want it, since it will be a faster pace MMO online game, so I doubt it would be the way we want it.

 

What I'm wanting is for it to not be only 1st person at the very least. The only reason I have any concern about that is because the trailer was entirely from a 1st person perspective. Also, I'm not sure why it couldn't do both 1st and 3rd person views as an online game since there's been both 1st and 3rd person shooters as online games, all it is is a perspective shift.

I suspect this game will similar to Marvel's Avengers in the sense that there will be repetitive mission structure and leveling up of Transformers (heroes). The main gameplay loop will be leveling up Transformers to max, gearing them up and then moving onto another. Rinse and repeat.

Hopefully the gear system will be similar to the different levels of rarity that we see in all moderns RPGs and there will be visual accompaniment.

I believe this game will live or die by how much story content is pumped into it. Destiny, in my opinion, is the gold standard for live service games. The Transformers franchise isn't widespread enough to survive on a rinse and repeat cycle like Avengers (It's not dead despite what you may hear). Reactivate will 100% need Destiny level patches if it's to survive. Big expansions every or every other year with smaller events happening monthly or bi monthly.

I truly think this game has the potential to explode the Transformers franchise like it did in 2007 with the Bay films. If a brand new IP like Destiny can become a household name and the gold standard for games as a service there's no reason Reactivate can't do the same. As long as Splash Damage can deliver a solid experience that makes people want to engage with whatever content is there at launch it will be a success.

At the risk of sounding like I shill the game will need strong financial support at launch; especially if it's free to play. The only way these types of game get regular support is if the suits see a reason to invest into it.

That's a pretty dead game to me. Granted not fully, but mostly in the grave and barely hanging on.

Secondly, already said, but the game will be heavily reminiscent of Warframe as it's being made with support devs from Warframe. I agree, the story will absolutely make or break the game. As long as the story is good, and gameplay is fun and not overly repetitive and grindy, this game should last a good while.

And nope, I very, VERY strongly disagree with blindly supporting a F2P as most are ass and heavily scumy. There is only one, maybe two F2P games that are good, the rest are heavily microtransacted excuses for games. Never, ever blindly support a game without a really damn good cause, and until you have played it for a long time to know they aren't going to immediately going to screw you over the first chance you get. If you do, then we will continue to get games like Fallout 76, Battlefield 2042, Cyberpunk 2077, Marvels Avengers, and too goddamn many more. Only support games that are truly worth supporting. The issue is microtransactions have infected the gaming landscape like a plague, and if you don't constantly call them out on their bullshit, games will continue to come out worse, more broken, and half finished, because they know the fanbase will buy it regardless. If you don't have some self respect as a customer, they will continue to steamroll you and squeeze every cent you have on the dumbest, most trivial things imaginable. If you just want to please the suits, you are part of the problem. Literally, if you just give them money so they listen, I can 1000% guarantee they will never listen to a goddamn word you say, just look at Madden and Fifa. But, if you take all their money away, they will give you all the time in the world to listen and figure out how to get it back.

Fuck the suits, they are the fucking people ruining gaming and the gaming landscape. They can all rot in hell for all the evils and atrocities they have brought into the gaming landscape and all the legendary names and IPs they have ruined because of it.

And yes, this game is supposed to be F2P, but that info is a few years old and things could have changed. I pray to god it isn't and that they release a full game, with constant updates/DLC, as we will get better quality content and a better game because we wont have to deal with all the F2P paywall, time gated bullshit with missing half the content and features. They should release a full game, with full DLC and future updates to come.
