I'm going to be honest, I'm really intrigued by this, and I'm really interested in how it'll turn out. But my biggest concern has got to be the price. I've been disgusted by the massive increase in price with the MP figures as of late. Hound for example is $160, compared to Ironhide, who is larger, costs about half as much.

I'm really looking forward to how this set will turn out. This is the first official Masterpiece combiner. That's a big deal! But I'm terrified to see how much it will cost.

If MP had a unified scale, the Beast Wars figures would be tiny.

Well, the robots all turn into altmodes that are basically boxes...so each member is gonna cost like $300 bucks, I bet. LOL

What's sad is, I'll probably buy this, even at the insane official MP prices nowadays, because 1) COMBINING TRAIN ROBOT, and 2) I'm very confident Takara will do something awesome and groundbreaking in the Combiner game. It helps that each individual mode is basically a box so it's not that crazy to get a limb out of it. The fact that their senior designers are working on this makes me feel like it's a labor of love and a personal challenge... they're pretty awesome when they get in their bag like that.

I'm hoping the individual bots are Seeker-sized as trains (length) and roughly that size as robots. You could get a Zeta-sized combiner out of that.

TF collectors are the shallow end of the pool as far as spending. It's more about them keeping up.

exactly !! what i have spent on hot toys and sideshow stuff in the last few years has out done what i have spent on transformers masterpiece figures in the last 10 years and i have a moddest mp collection

suppose i can add my soldier story unicron and the $1200 studio oz movie grade cybertron which i have almost paid off to the same league as the more high end stuff

Ironic, given the Zeta already announced their own Raiden combiner a little while back. Gonna be interesting to see if this plays out similar to how it did with Unicron.

With the average new-tooling boxcar/hopper in HO being $40-50, and diesel locomotives $200-$300 (steam twice that), MP prices won't cause a train collector to bat an eye.

Huh, never really considered TF was on the cheaper side of toy collecting. I guess I can always claim this hobby as a more economical one should the discussion ever arise.

I was hoping for Raiden to either be G1 reissued or part of the United Warriors line.

My guess is Zeta just drops the project entirely. They'll probably pick up Unicron at a later date, because it's a different scale and accomplishes different things than the official (smaller, focus on robot mode instead of planet mode)... but their Raiden is the exact same thing, at the exact same scale, and I don't think they want that smoke with Takara after they got "papa spanked" for Unicron.

Oh yeah, for SURE. TF has always been an AMAZING value for collectibles. When you look at what you get at the pricepoint, plus the fact that each toy is basically two toys? Compare MP and 3P MP scale stuff to high-end robot toys like Soul of Chogokin. Or even Diaclone Reboot. Even the most expensive stuff like Flame Toys is favorably priced compared to comparable collectibles. People complained about Unicron's price but it wasn't that much more expensive than Jabba's sail barge while being way more impressive from a design standpoint.

Its true tho, BW figures would be tiny, and then there's MPM which, I have no idea wtf that scale would be, but I'm pretty sure it would be even bigger than it is.

Ain't clutching at shit. My one and only deciding factor is going to be price. If he's scaled to the other G1 MPs and still in my price range I'll buy him and if he's Titan sized but out of my price range I'm out.

I've brought up MPM before and people claim "that's not Masterpiece" even when it's right there in the name. It's hopeless.

I'm just telling people that since we're in uncharted waters I wouldn't assume *anything* about what an MP combiner is going to be until we see it.

If it's really MP scale, Raiden would have to be bigger than CW Titan Class Devastator, itll likely be near as tall as WFC Unicron and probably alot more expensive

Nah, it'd be around Toyworld Constructor height to be MP scale.
