There has never been a masterpiece figure released under the “MP” numbering system that was originally part of another line. Furthermore there had never been a masterpiece figure released under ANY numbering system that was classified under a different line but released as a masterpiece first.

I think it’s fair to say that what you’re suggesting is not simply unlikely but unprecedented. Again, there would be at least some dubious precedent for it if there had been any figure of Raiden released since the original, yet there hasn’t been. In other words you can’t re-release something that’s never been released to begin with.

Ultimately Takara and Hasbro define what an MP is, not us.

    Other unprecedented things...an MP combiner.

Reread my post m8. I specified that I was just referring to “MP” releases, not “MPM”.

The guys who can read Japanese have said the teaser poster text does indicate that this Raiden is an MP so there's nothing to dispute about it being an MP or not. I don't think it'll have some of the mainline downfalls of Devastator nor Predaking. Even though the former was made with MP-scaling in mind, it was still designed with the budgetary restraints/compromises of a mainline figure, not an MP.

Just hope we see something soon, never saw much of the trainbots pre-internet.

    My 2 cents of thoughts:

So far the MP line has been nothing except achieving utmost accuracy to reflect how these characters' looked like in the respective animes.

    Now...My question is:

    How accurate is this Raiden?

In terms of anime accuracy especially? (I'm actually referring to the painting as shown in the poster/wall at the convention)

Because if that is the copy of toy we're receiving, its neither "accurate" to his look in Masterforce nor his toy.

Don't get me wrong as I would like a MP Raiden release, just like the next guy in line but...

*Looks at my collection, with the Cybertrons facing 2 Titan Class Destron combiners & I immediately forgot about my logics above*

H#ll, just gimme a Titan Class Raiden to fend off these bad guys ASAP!

MP & MP styled or not.

    :lol :lol :lol

    Except it did?

I'm pretty sure we have gotten APS-01 & then the upgraded APS-01U.

This thread just keeps getting dumber.

Can we go back to complaining about scale, at least that wasn't boring semantics.

    Not exactly Masterpiece I know...

But they fitted right in with the couple of MPMs that were being released around that period of time (in terms of paintworks, finishing...Right down to the packaging & even price point) so many would have considered these part of the MPM line...

It's gonna be slavishly anime colored given the current thrust of Takara.

I had a peak in the new Generations book.
    Nothing earth shattering.

They briefly touch on Raiden in the interview.

For anybody still doubting, it WILL be a Masterpiece.

From the way they spoke it sounds like it's in very early stages of development (or at least it was when the interview was conducted).

looks like they've got the original designer (Kōjin Ōno) on board and he's excited to make an improved version.
They also say they want to satisfy train enthusiasts with the vehicle modes.

Release date is yet to be determined.

    1. Great that that’s clear.

    2. Probably gonna take a while. So that makes sense he’s not in the book. I’m guessing he’ll get more of a mention next year.

    3. Oh that’s cool to know. I like how the old designers get brought back. Like the Star Saber designer got brought on for PotP line. And I respect his ambition for improvement. That’s a good sign. And wanting to satisfy train fans is also respectable. I like where this could lead.

Huh... ok then. TT really are impossible to predict aren't they, I find this development totally baffling... but that's becoming par for the course I guess.

I kinda like it. MP has always seemed so serious to me for a long time. It seems like people depend on it for figures to be made. Now they’re just making toys and going wild. It’s cool.
