The only reason I can think of why they would include this picture, is showing he does forward leg movement. He have to be able to swing up from the hips to cock his leg like that.

 

I think it was implied that Kaens articulation carries over. I think this is to show where the gun block goes and that he is indeed not a statue

From the prototype and rendering I can help but wonder if the waist will be fused for stability, with only in/out versus forward. Its going to be hard to show anything like that with a fragile and loose prototype, but it will be nice how much range Kaen will have in combined mode, as I highly doubt there is going to be a waist swivel.

Basically every trainbot has a visual gimmic:
Shouki an Getsuei = samurai
Yukikaze = Snow soldier
Seizan and Suiken= Soldier with communication backpack
Kaen= ? (Sumo Warrior?)

 

So the sketch on the left is done by Ono and is basically start, with the goal being to reconcile that with your cad model. Can't wait to see scans as it looks like they kind of go into the "process". The notation on the legs are interesting, the angled part became an extra panel in the final design, and he wanted the cannon tip to be able to bend over like a shoulder rocket if the money was there.

Yup my bad, mistook Mr. Oki for Mr. Ono. Skids is safely the only MP he hasnt worked on in recent years . I wonder if they were bigger would they have been been able to translate more of the original sketch? I love the taper and angling in his legs. Its got to be one of the most noticable difference between the MP and MPG line, the attention to feet and leg details that unfortunately got sacrificed to a degree, no real tapering or angles other than 90 degrees on the legs and limited foot articulation

Skids looks like 400 grams of chewed bubblegum. But instead of someone being grossed out buy touching gum under their desk, they just want to know WHO’s gum it was!!!!
