As someone near your age...Japanese G1 is certainly...different...lol especially headmasters, you’ll see what I mean...

US G1 has its place, but there’s a reason I chose not to hold onto the DVDs when I trimmed most of my collection (and that reason wasn’t just because I have the whole series committed to memory lol)

Headmasters is probably the hardest to get through. I found Masterforce most enjoyable, personally. HM drags on and Victory’s villains get a little obnoxious.

    Oh gosh, not dubbed lmao

Headmasters is bizarre IMO. I think it’s because it uses all the G1 characters but puts them in distinctly non-G1 scenarios, or at least the very absurd end of g1 scenarios. Masterforce was fun for a late ‘80s anime. Victory felt the most like US g1 IMO, but with a dash of anime spice to it.

Japan loves trains so much, even their giant transforming robots commute via train.

10-20,000 units for a production run is normal in Japan and not rare FWIW.

Raiden basically is the Sky Lynx of headmasters, shuttling everyone to and fro. The molds for Omega supreme and sky lynx were from competitors so takara had to invent a new character to fill the role of shuttling guys around once the American cartoon was finished. Coupled with jetfire being a Bandai toy all of a sudden the autobots had zero transport options as toys except for battleship Maximus himself, which was inconveniently the highest price point.

I mean it even got to the point where raiden supplanted sky lynx as Predakings rival

There aren't many times I throw money readily at something something in large sums. But man this will be one of the things I toss money at in a heart beat. MP Combiner and it's Raiden of all bots; that's absolutely sick. I guess he'll be a tad too big Titan Preds and Devastator but I'm sure they'll still look decent enough together.

If it was CW scale I would have bought it, but I have no interest in an MP scale one.

It probably would have been better if they had released some Headmasters characters first...Chromedome/Sixshot to get people to buy in on the idea of a Headmasters display before teasing a Raiden.

About the Japanese train collector thing and some people being skeptical...

...just look at all the companies who make n-scale model train buildings. I'm not talking about the trains themselves...just the buildings you would use to build a little cityscape around your train set. Just check which company is the most prolific in breadth of selection.

Japanese G1 is either fucking masterful (Dark Nova being a Vok) or straight up diabolical (any LG chapters that came with a fembot) but no matter what you can’t look away.

Ill be happy if Takara can intergrate the combined mode chest/ wing piece into MP Shouki.

I’m personally fond of the E-Hobby fiction, tons of obscure characters, hundreds of Easter eggs, opens up lots of potential repurposed figures (TR Astrotrain as the Primus Vanguard Shuttle) and making what appear to be simple repaints into new characters (Magna Convoy, Convobat and Blue Big Convoy)

I live in a city once known (and maybe still known) for trains, I've been to a model railroaders club in August.

There can be more than 5-10 in the area you mentioned...But I know you exaggerated on purpose.

That said, I'm disappointed in this announcement, as I loathe trains...Except the RID TRIO...

Maybe I'll want these when pics surface?
