If you're speculating on the size of any other MPG combiners, keep in mind that the Trainbots' size is extremely dictated by the real-world model train scale. They will basically have the standard amount of scale freedom for any other combiner. I don't think we need to entirely take anything they chose to do for Raiden as hard "rules" that future combiners also have to adhere to.

I don’t get why speculate size of anything from the future. They chose Unite warriors scale for this guy. That sets a president for their MP combiner size. So now they’ll most likely keep all of them this small.

    Following on from...

OMG - I finally found the real world reference for MS Shouki and Yukikaze!!...

(Not trolling 3P, just having some fun! MS is epic for combined mode! I was searching for real world example of a Series 0 or 200 Shinkansen being grey/silver and this is all I got)

    unknown.png

Totally explains both the colour and proportions :D  Eat that if you think MS isn't based on a real train :) .

Yeah, but if they make a foe for Raiden in the MPG line, I would expect it to be similar sized. If that was the case, I wouldn't mind 18cm predacons and a 35cm Predaking, while for Devastator I'd prefer it to be part of the regular MP line and be larger, seeker sized constructicons and a Devastator close to what 3Ps are making.

Interesting----Kenji is the "rear" locomotive of the trainset, whereas Shouki is the lead. But it seems very intentional as checking the Thomas wiki, his debut episode made a point about Kenji needing an electric catenary for his pantograph in order to run. (only the rear loco of a Type 0 has a pantograph)

I'm all for shows teaching kids about the infrastructure requirements of high-speed trains. :D

Well, Takara follows their scale, so (i think) about Hot Rod height for Trainbots and Costructicons, Ironhide height for Predacons, carbot height for limbs and Soundwave height for the rest of the combiners, and components have toons proportions.
Also, Takara does not use partforming and should aim (for this will see after clear Raiden images) for toon proportion in combiner mode.

3rd parties have more liberties in that sense.

I'd like to hope that if Takara does get to Devastator (or any other combiners) that they would be open to using partsforming to enhance the appearance in combined form. I'm sure they won't since for some reason partsforming is considered taboo for Masterpiece...even though it is used for the original toys (and sometimes even shown in the cartoon).

Partsforming isn’t as bad as some in the fandom thinks it is. It makes a figure much more playable.

It’s also considered a lazy way out of clever engineering.

In actuality it’s more often likely a design compromise when a figure’s budget doesn’t allow for the clever engineering.

People in the fandom using the term “lazy” has become a lazy way out of fully thinking through what goes into creating toys like these.

And that's fine if clever engineering can deliver a good result, but there are times when no amount of engineering can replicate the look of the source material. For me personally, I just don't care about how clever a transformation is, I just want it to look as good as possible on the in-hand and on the shelf.
