I believe the roof of the train folds together like a taco to make that portion, so since their is a raised portion on the roof of the train mode, it adds the thickness. Sry I don’t know any train terminology despite liking trains…

 

hmmm. that does seem a little small. 17 cm leg length which is 6 1/2 inchs while Devastator is about 10 inchs in the leg. 
I dont think we need upgrade kits to make it bigger but this thing should be devastator/predaking height and we\'re getting about 14-15 inchs fully combined. 

 

In fairness I think this is homaging the toy more than anything. The chest sticking out and head panel are pretty similar. My guess as to why they felt comfortable leaving it. Wonder if we will see if its able to hold a rider like the OG toy.

Grats to all that want this piece, if goes on sale for 50% I would buy one for the train mode, other that Zeta for Raiden and eventually Fanstoys for the bot modes.

 

Alright, we have details on the size of the leg. Someone whip up how big this combiner is going to be in Photoshop.

 

Honestly, Devastator and Predaking are too big if you go by fictional scale. They should both be about the size of the other combiners (about 11-12" at Combiner Wars scale). Raiden's height works out quite well against the Scramble City guys since he's made of trains and has one extra member.

 

I do understand that was a homage to that, though I don’t think it would have been unreasonable to have had a hinge there to fold it down for those who wouldn’t want it. Personally, I want it to fold as it only appears to be a panel sticking out the back, which may be fragile, as well as waste space on the shelf. Seeing the amount of support plastic was placed there, and that it’s only the plate, and not the whole backpack, I think having it fold wouldn’t be out of reason. Just a nitpick, but I think it’s something that would make me like the figure a lot more for play and display. If I put the figure down on its back, I may be concerned with the thin panel’s strength and stress exerted on it to hold up the rest of the figure.

Oh, Im with you on that, its a pretty good bot mode based on the train mode and that piece sticking out really takes away from it.
Combined mode would bother me if I looked at it as a regular MP, in the end I think its going to look more like a diaclone reboot combiner, at 11-12 inches it'll scale with the Wauruder combiner.

I really do hope for the 11-12 inches to be honest, even if the combiner doesn’t look that great, having it as a display option that actually fits on my shelf would be great! Space is at a premium since i moved into a condo… I’ve always wanted the G1 raiden set when i was younger probably due to my love for trains
