The official announcement said the G in MPG stood for gattai, great, and giant, which could imply it’s a masterpiece line for any big or special figure, not just combiners. If that’s the case I wouldn’t expect them to stick to any particular scale.

The combined size was pretty clearly dictated by having HO-scale alt-modes. Model railroading compatability is very unlikely to be a consideration for future releases.

Fair enough. I’m just hopeful that they’ll scale the individual bot modes to a similar size. If that ends up making the gestalt mode the same size, that works for me too. The alt modes may not scale well between sets but, in my mind, that would be the best case scenario.

Having said all of that, this is Takara that we’re talking about and in most cases, I’ve found it to be extremely difficult to predict their next release or how it’s designed. They seem to like throwing a curveball as soon as there appears to be any sort of trend or possibility of predictability.

Awesome photos. Cant say it convinced me to buy the figure, but I’m definitely now in the market for those Geocolle diorama sets

As soon as they showed how short Shouki is, when he's a TRAIN, I lost any interest. I admit that train mode is beautiful, but I need size along with that price. The combined mode being combiner wars devastator height is a disservice to Raiden imo. Should've been one of the biggest combiner's across the board.

I need to see what the final height price and look before. All that matters to me personally is how he and moon studio will scale with my collection.

I might be missing something, but I thought the combined height for Raiden is around 29cm/11.4in (estimated) and Combiner wars Devastator is 45.72cm/18in tall. So this is going to be way shorter I thought ? If it was combiner wars Devastator height that would be incredible. But I thought from what people have shown/calculated/theorized it won’t come close to that?

I don’t have cw devy and was going off of a random Twitter thread where someone said that’s how tall they’d be combined, honestly shorter than devastator is even worse

Yeah, 29 cm is closer to the small main CW combiners' heights. (Defensor, etc.) CW Devy was a Titan class set. A tiny MP combiner at those heights with MP detail and articulation is still really neat, don't get me wrong. I actually would pop for it if I could responsibly afford it but I can't currently lol. But I still understand why people want him to be larger. CW Devy height would be my ideal for Raiden, too.

I was thinking maybe someone got the pic crossed and maybe they saw a pic of moon studio's train instead of takara's. Moon studio's train is pretty short compared to takara's. Edit: they may have thought about moon next to toyworld?

Having a Devastator that stands no taller than MP-Prime would pretty much ruin any chance of me buying it. Especially since it would be another $1200 endeavor. Probably more.

I wonder how big the mini figures that are coming with Skyfire will be. They may be perfect for your needs.

While I don’t care for Raiden, the smaller combined mode scale actually has me excited to see a Devastator or some of the other combiners.

All the 3rd party MP combiners are way too large for me, so I’d already decided to go with Legends class. If TT is gonna continue with official MP combiners of around 30cm tall, I would most likely pick them up.

I could have missed it, but was it mentioned anywhere they'd have lights?

And, since I know Tomy has the technology to fit them into much smaller trains, they should be able to switch to red, too:

(no, not the right scheme, but best pic I could find showing the lights switched to red)

The jet was amongst the first in the entire line but otherwise, true. However these aren’t masterpiece. They’re Chug in anything but name.

Yes, the dioramas are the best part of the latest round of pics...and it would get pricey to get all the parts like that on top of finding backdrops and floors.

Cross compatibility is a concept Hasui brough to the line that increased it's success exponentailly. We are losing that with some of the recent decisions. The decisions are not optimal for sales. A less than impressive combiner mode for an MP leaves the question yet again - why is it even MP?

Because MP collectors spend much more money than Chug collectors for figures, so that’s the TF portion of the market they want to market to.
