Compare the screw and pins size on the Skids arms with the ones on Shouki arms. I'm positive about bigger size.

I do understand they want to appeal to train fans but it's not doing it for me. I'll wait and see if a 3P makes a cartoon inspired one.

    3383mm : actual train width
0030mm : MPG Shouki width, based on 5mm track hole

1:112 scale, practically 1/2 of 1:60 of Diaclone Reboot

Eh I'll wait for official announcement tomorrow, hopefully with actual scale and stuff

This is more 'toon accurate than the 3P rendition. Unless you're saying you're looking for another 3P to make an attempt.

You've got that backwards. 1:120 would be half the scale of 1:60.

Looks fantastic. Its good to see another train transformer, trains and snakes have always been rough in terms of transforming robots so it's reasonable

Looking good, but is it weird that because I never knew of this guy's existence (either as an adult or a kid) and the character is more of a Japanese phenomenon, it doesn't seem like an actual G1 MP to me?

Even though it IS and must have hit the market before even the likes of Devastator?

Now an Astrotrain reveal ... ;)

I like the poseability on this, so I may be back in on this guy.

The character never left Japan and didn't appear in the cartoon until Japan did their own original spin-offs, nor was the toy released under "Transformers" proper until then. It was originally released in Diaclone a year before G1 Transformers started.

Exactly @DigitalBrave3, but in a way the classic Diaclone stuff is more G1 than anything to me usually, because its what G1 and the subsequent rebrand is built on.

That includes a lot of stuff that slipped off the radar for me as a kid but I appreciated more as an adult collector like Browning and the cool VHS cassette-bot glimpsed in The Toys That Made Us documentary that's pure vintage holy grail type stuff ....

But this guy? Completely slipped off the radar for me until this MP release, even an adult collector. Which is so weird because I worship Astrotrain to pieces and generally like the concept of Autobot equivalents to Decepticons I love (Blaster vs Soundwave etc.)

Yeah, I'm aware of the history... I just think aesthetically, they don't meld with the others as well, just my opinion. Probably because trains to me--especially trains like this--just sort of scream "Japan" to me, I feel like I'm looking at a mecha from some unrelated robot anime. Again, not trying to detract or criticize it for those that like it, I'm just saying I will wait to get into MPG for one of the other combiners.

I know right? When will Takara realise there is a massive retro market for this guy, dig out the rusty moulds and release him??

Not to *ahem* derail this thread, but I started a thread about the VHS bot last year if you're interested

Link is below, so by all means comment. It needs resurrecting! :D  >>>>
