Exactly. You can generally use any color on-hand for testing, but clear behaves different from opaque. You'd learn little and not really be able to use it to tweak for tolerances, if you used clear plastic for a part intended for opaque in the final product, and vice-versa.

I'm not worried at all about the large clear plastic panels. Lots of MPs have large clear plastic parts that are painted and they're just fine.

But yes they do mold test shots in clear plastic sometimes, I assume to check out the inner workings for transformation testing or something. The Skids test shot that was posted and then deleted had clear panels that will definitely not be clear panels in the final product. For example the front fenders and the engine details under the hood.

Yeah that's a good bit of clear plastic there. Looks like for all the bits that have windows (which they should just skip doing clear plastic for. Just paint em in)

I'm having trouble kinda seeing the "masterpiece" in this but then I'm not super familiar with the train bots anyways and how they looked in the show so maybe it IS pretty right on

To be honest I think slim to none. Takara's just not into the reissue business anymore, and if they're going to pour resources into any project it's going to be something like this MP Raiden instead.

wow, that looks terrible, Im sure its a mass of mistransformation but I cant really see how they can mass out those super thin and wide legs.

If they're aiming for accuracy they won't. His lower legs are at least twice the thickness of his thighs in the cartoon (as the original G1 toy had very wide lower legs) Though it's hard to tell from the pic, I think his thighs may slide over slightly to line up more with the foot.

    My guess as well.
I don't think this bot will surpass by much the Skids price

The prototype isn't transformed correctly. Based on what we've seen thus far, they'll go for a more hybrid approach a la Skids as it seems?

I made a screenshot from the series where you can properly see Shouki from the front.

Not for me, I want clear plastic for the windows but opaque plastic for the frames. Takara can mold more parts to achieve that instead of just molding one big clear piece to reduce cost.

Probably more to do with structure integrity than cost. Considering how small the windows would have to be and any brackets between the window as well. Either an entirely clear piece or painted windows would be the only option. See MP-52 and his chest center / fake canopy.

After what a clusterfuck JRX is, I hope that Takara has learned NOT to use clear plastic just for a tiny bit of it to be unpainted

That would be easy to address: just use two plastic molded pieces, one opaque with holes for the windows and then another clear one behind.

    That's honestly what I'd prefer.

Don't know about any one else, but I'd rather not see the robo-guts in vehicle mode.

Heck opaque windows like on MP-44 or transparent windows with painted parts behind them work as well.

Is the scale supposed to match the Combiner Wars scale when formed into 1 big bot?

What's wrong with JRX? Mine is holding up just fine.
The US release always looked so cheap to me with the opaque windows.

I believe they said it would be in scale with UW combiners…not sure if he will be like Menasor sized or Devy sized, though. I’m thinking the latter.

Same. I had two of the Japanese releases and they’re still (according to the guy that bought both) flawless. I know fire convoy had some problems but JRX was sorta one of the best toys ever made.

    fuck….. MP JRX!
