Asking Hasbro "Will you do [X] toy/character/more of [X] line?" in this Q&A things won't get you an answer, because they obviously won't reveal their future plans until the time is right.

The time was right enough last time for them to announce Generations Blurr through Q&A.

but it's still too risky to just throw a question away like that.

I figure Blurr was answered because it wasn't too far off from his eventual appearance in stock images and BotCon. This means 99% of the time they're not going to be able to you an answer IF they were making [X].

well we're always looking for more experts to ask questions. We didn't have many participants and I only had a selection of q's to choose from. I'll be glad to ask better questions if given to me :)

One obvious question for next time would be about the pics they showed at Botcon. Uh, can we see those again?

Sorry if I came off as rude and aggressive there :)

Hasbro/TakaraTomy seem reluctant to publicly release or display control art until after the fact, partly probably so they can still make changes during production (like, drop paint apps or retool parts).

Well it's their decision to make. They showed them once already. I think people can understand that a work in progress may look different from the finished piece.

A lot of questions that get asked about future toys are very specific, that will either get a yes or a no, or most likely a "we cannot comment at this time". I say let's ask open-ended questions, like - is there anything about upcoming toys that you can reveal at this time?

Seeing that question about a GI Joe crossover just makes me think of that interview with the Takara engineers talking about Human Alliance. Having to make TFs that drivers can ride in is very restrictive to engineering. Obviously they've done a pretty good job with it, but I don't get the impression they're eager to do a lot more.

Of course they wouldn't necessarily have to make GI Joe crossover toys accommodate drivers, but it would be kind of unsatisfying to have the TFs turn into GI Joe vehicles that GI Joe figures can't ride in, no?

the scale would blow it though ~ i've always maintained the theoretical line should use mini-figs of the joe characters like the early SW TFs.

I mean, Hound as a VAMP with a mini-fig clutch? done. (with Runabout or Swindle remold as a Stinger)

Bigger vehicles like the Prime Rolling Thunder could come with multiple figs.

    >>>sigh<<< Oh, how i dream of this line...

But if they did Crossovers the way Crossovers are normally done, it'd be GI Joe vehicles that transform into GI Joe characters.

Hopefully if/when "regular" Thundercracker is finally made (which I'd be as happy to see as anyone), folks will stop using AMTC as a red herring and complain about those of us trying to get AMTC made as if it would somehow detract from the possibility of said "regular" Thundercracker (which, I am quick to point out, does already exist two times over, even if not at mass retail. AMTC doesn't even have that).

(For those who wonder why I bring this up, read the way they phrased the question. I've tried rather hard not to make my AMTC campaign about AMTC vs. any other figure, but the naysayers can't help but pit us against themselves.)

I don't want to bring it up here since we're already pleasantly debating it on TFViews but that's not what we're doing at all. And Dom is worried that putting out a mass-release AM Thundy in place of Regular Thundy is an actual possibility. (I disagree but I didn't write the question.)

I'd really, really hope that Hasbro wouldn't go there, since they are both Hasbro properties instead of licensed ones...

(it honestly truly boggles my mind that they haven't done TF/Joe crossovers yet)

I'd imagine that Crossovers Joe style could be handled differently because both are Hasbro-owned properties. They could take it further than just applying the TF play pattern to licensed characters Hasbro doesn't own.
