So as just revealed at BotCon, there's a free, five-part motion comic by Barber and Ramondelli available on the Madefire app for Windows 8 right now. It apparently has Optimus and the Dinobots teaming up to track down a serial killer on Cybertron. Going to start reading it now myself!
Is this the motion comic without any voice acting in it? If it is...pass. motion comics need voice acting for it to work IMO.
Yeah, it has no voice acting, and I don't think they have the money to spend on voice actors for these. I really don't think that's a big loss, at least when it comes to brand new stories made for the format rather than old ones brought into it. (those I do tend to wish had voice actors)
Did you check the Windows 8 app? It's only available on there right now. And this is really the only link I can give. Madefire app for Windows in the Windows Store
I really wish IDW approved of Michael Bell's All Hail Megatron motion comic. David Sobolov would have voiced Megatron (which isn't a half bad casting idea)
Happily, I'm visiting someone with a Win8 laptop this week, so hopefully will get to read this soon. Intrigued by this being about Optimus coming to Cybertron post-DC. I guess this must be happening after the Windblade mini and at least the first arc of RID, so odd that it's being released now... Also, to clear up how this is being released, it's available on the Win8 Madefire app for free right now, and will be released (presumably not for free) on other Madefire platforms (online, iOS) in five weeks or so. Sometime after that, there will be a print release.
Well, it doesn't spoil much if anything from either of those, although I guess that depends on how generous you want to be. (Starscream's still in charge of Cybertron, for example, so...)
I hope eventually, a general synopsis and rundown of the plot will be put up on TFwiki, I'd really like to read this mini-series.
Ugh. My first thought is it's just like the Windows 8 Comixology app, complete with ugly as sin interface and inexplicable downloading problems that can only be resolved by completely uninstalling the app. Then I discovered that when you can download the comics, you can only do so one at a time, and you HAVE to watch the progress meter, because doing anything else will cause your background download to fail (which results in having to completely uninstall the app to try again). So, congratulations Madefire: you've actually managed to make a WORSE comic app than Comixology on Windows 8. This thing is shit. Just let us buy the fucking thing on iOS or Android. Forget Windows 8 - it's a dead platform.
For all you folks out there who haven't read it... it was actually quite good It reflects on a character who HASN'T had a lot of page time so it's really nice, barber you done it again with them continuity
Read the first "issue". Pretty nice, particularly for the price. I was happy to see Spoiler Barricade (in his WfC body!) and Spoiler Acid Storm . Not sure when this takes place. Probably before or after the TF:Windblade 4-parter (probably not during), and it's likely after the current arc of RID as Optimus is on Cybertron again. I loved that one panel of Optimus petting Sludge. Here's a quick summary of issue 1 for anyone who'd like it: Spoiler 3 F-list Decepticons are planning to rob Starscream. Then a unseen killer kills them all with some sort of gun that leaves very burning wounds (not sure if relevant or just artistic effect). Dinobots, Barricade and Starscream investigate. Once SS realizes they were out to get him and got what they deserved, he basically tells Barricade to drop the case. Dinobots seem to want to keep on it though. We then see Optimus arrive (it's unclear when this is exactly, was he near Earth but pre-season 2 RID, or is this in RID's future?). Optimus greets Starcream and Windblade. Optimus walks into the Decpticon slums and a bunch of them (I noticed the Firecons and Terrorcons among others. Acid Storm is there, but seems to actually respect him, but maybe he's just afraid) get mad and start a fight. Just as it looks bad for Prime, Starscream hovers in and pulls him out. TO BE CONTINUED.
