Ok so I've just been getting into collecting prime figures. The most recent one I got was the RID optimus prime. Overall he's an ok figure (I just hate the translucent parts). The one problem is that I hate the mechtech, it's just stupid . Now I've heard from some people that if you undo the screws inside and put it back together the gun will actually stay in place and not flick back up. But when I tried it, I realized I had no clue what I was doing. Can anybody help me out on a video somewhere or a step by step what to do?

Actually, what I did was gut the gun and used a rubber band to make it stay out.

Then it actually clicked onto the arm

If you have TFP Arcee, I would just suggest to ditch Prime's junk gun and give the figure Arcee's jumbo gun. Doing so is a lot easier than reworking that mess.

you just unscrew the parts...but make sure you know which screw goes where. I had no idea what I was doing with Dreadwing's gun but I managed to get it back into one piece. Another thing you can do it place glue between the piece that slides back and the gun and let it dry (crazy/hot glue works best) and then just remove the batteries.

I'd suggest just putting that thing aside and getting the first edition voyager.

This since the fe is easy to find at regular retail pricing at bbts.

I don't have mine but I'm guessing you position the gear so that the gun is already pointing out when the switch is in its normal position. That's what I did with Dreadwing. I just flipped out the gun while pushing the switch in so it stayed out all the time.
