Takara Tomy: - Optimus Prime has PREMIUM paint!

Everyone: -

Looking at Prime, the paint made me think the same thing, until I remembered most KOs of this mold have featured improved engineering and better paint than most official releases.

 

Explain what a premium figure should be since you and others think a screen accurate version is not

 

It does seem like "premium paint" is being mistaken for "looks fancy" instead of accurate (which it is)

 

My problems with the Premium Netflix Optimus are that the silver battle damage apps (which seem to be tampos this time) still look pretty cheap compared to other attempts they've made with the battle damage apps. Maybe that is screen accurate, because I haven't seen the show. I do like the silver fading around the edges though, since that's where most of the paint wear would realistically be.

I might get this one. I think the green windows are an interesting contrast to the red chest in general, so it would be cool to get this one for that.

 

Everyone saying "this should have been the regular release" do realize that Siege Optimus was released a full year before the show was announced? Now if you want to make an argument that the voyager Netflix Optimus that came out for Earthrise should have been this mold and deco, I would agree. Personally, I don't care for the weird green windows and was kinda put off by the fact that the show somehow didn't match the toy.

 

I’m glad higher resolution pictures have been posted. Both are improvements but Bumblebee looks more substantial whereas Prime’s PF paint job is more subtle.

Pass on both since I’m hoping for a more mold-accurate Bumblebee and I’m okay with the SIEGE Prime I already have.

 

This may be an unpopular opinion but it's a correct one. These aren't evergreens, they're War for Cybertron TV show figures.

I don't even think they're painted. Pretty sure the grey vents are a different piece than the blue shins. I'm not at home so I can't verify but they look decidedly plastic and it would take paint away from elsewhere to get your desired look.

 

Like others have said, the specific purpose of this line is to be as close to the movie and War for Cybertron on-screen appearances as possible. If the leg vents are silver in that show, then they should absolutely be silver on this figure. G1 has nothing to do with this.

I don't see what exactly is so premium about these guys.

 

Maybe they coated it with these ? but they do seem fully painted or casted in matte plastic .

 

I think this will pair nicely with the Wave 1 Netflix Megatron. If they do a Premium Siege Megatron, it would have to be degrees nicer than the Netflix and spoiler Megatrons and I honestly don't see that happening. I will say I am surprised there are no physical bonuses. Not a backdrop, Charlie slug figure, Energon Cube, etc.

 

Please give us a clean WFC Springer from this. I don't care if it's $55, it's cheaper than buying a Siege copy and paying someone a commission to clean for me.

 

Siege Megatron will be part of the 6 figure line up in the Premium Finish WFC line.
A big difference between this and Hasbro's Netflix line, is that these guys appear to be completely painted from head to toe.
Very curious how Premium Finish Megs will stack up against the gorgeous Netflix release.

 

Just for megs , it’s Netflix version is missing the head , legs , belly and cannon scars .

 

Did I miss it, or is there a list of the Siege Premium Paint figures?

 

@Fc203 posted the identity of the blacked out images earlier in the thread. The WFC releases are: Optimus Prime, Megatron, Ultra Magnus, Soundwave, Springer, and Wheeljack.

Which, aside from Springer, has got to be about the lamest lineup, from a standpoint most of those figures have had multiple releases in a variety of decos as it is....
(Optimus Prime: 4 or 5, Megatron: I’ve lost count, 6 or 7?, Ultra Magnus: 3, Soundwave: 5 I think (counting the Soundblasters), Wheeljack: 2

I get they seem to be going for screen accurate, but I bet they’d have sold a lot more units if they’d gone for guys with really lacking decos like Earthrise Smokescreen and really blinged them out.

 

Or Kingdom Dinobot....
