Optimus axe is a gatling gun?

    Because Fun, that's why.

I'm waiting in dread for the "shellformer" comments for A3.

Hasbro funds a LARGE chunk of the movie in order to drive said toy sales. That makes Transformers, GIJoe, Dungeons & Dragons all march to the drum of a different tune of expectations when it comes to box office receipts. Essentially, I think the studio goes in with probably half the money they normally would have on the line versus something they're financing mostly on their own. So, the loss is largely absorbed by Hasbro rather than Paramount...which is fine to Hasbro because they're investing in the toy side of the marketing and generating a profit as well.

I really don't know what the whole "low effort" business is about. The 1986 toys were offered and made in the same way that the 1984 and 1985 lines were. Only now, they'd run out of Diaclone and Microchange lines and Hasbro was trying to make new designs work between them and Takara where they hadn't had to worry about those things before. The "low effort" offerings were simply Hasbro finally taking the Transformers line into its own creative hands and failing remarkably badly on some of them.

I'd say the modern movie lines are in the same boat. It's more of the same thing that we've been getting since Cyberverse. Only Takara and Hasbro teams at least know what they're doing on original mold designs compared to 1986.

I think that's suppose to be Airachnid. You can see a guy who looks like the Prime vehicons as well.

With Alpha Trion getting a mainline fig I'm guessing they are going to lean into the TFP/Thirteen Primes thing again, synergy with next year's emphasis on Primes. Like how Kingdom and RotB were (originally) meant to come out around the same time.

Those Prime Changer toys don't look half bad! Especially Alpha Trion, it's nice to see a waist swivels, ankle pivots and some respectable upwards head motion on a fairly cheap gimmick toy. Also, is it me or do the greys on this Prime look way nicer than the ones on the Studio Series one?

It's bizarre to me that the warrior/Prime Changers Optimus bothers to hide the robot hands in alt mode where the Studio Series does not.

SS Level-A Deluxe Optimus has Clear Plastic, hands that don't fold in, or scale with any other Studio Series so far. Level-A Optimus is supposedly packed as sold cases so he will be oversaturated.

But also Orion Pax has generally always had a face, and pretty much everything we saw of him in the trailer was as Pax and not Prime.

Right Pax has a face, Prime has a mask. Or, at least, Prime has an optional battle mask.

I think once Primal introduced the battle mask in BW it made it's way in to the Unicron Trilogy. Can't remember if RiD 2001 Prime had it.

After BW it reappeared in Cybertron, not the other two shows

2015 had it, so did TFP and TFA

I like this mold, I just don’t need it for A3.

It does give me "Horror-Bull" vibes though. So I wouldn't mind a retool.

    YouTube (Custom URL):
Love the two new deluxe class characters, but reusing the Bumblebee mask that has been shelfwarming for the last year is not a good sign. Also that Mega sized Megatron costs $12 as Authentics, $20 as a ROTB toy, and probably $20 again as a ONE toy without any changes.

I really hope there are more mainline toys to come (unlike the masks and Mega toys).

You're saying things, that's for sure. But my opinion stands about liking the SS version better mainly due to the feet.
