First reviews are in. And they’re mostly positive. Currently has a score of 92% on Rotten Tomatoes. But that’s likely to change.

TRANSFORMERS ONE: Animated Prequel Hits Rotten Tomatoes With Highest Score Of The Franchise

 

Helpful disclaimer that Rotten Tomatoes isn't a good metric to measure a film's quality and particularly in recent years they've been shown to flub / manipulate numbers for questionable reasons.

Plus I don't doubt this movie will have the highest score compared to all the ones that came before, because these movies have mostly been terrible so doing better than them is actually super easy.

TF:One can still be a subpar or even bad film while also being / doing better than those past movies. Which is less a sign of how good the film is but moreso how low the bar has been set for these things.

 

Yeah it’s worth noting that Rottentomatoes score isn’t a percentage of “how good it is”, it’s a score of what percentage of critics though the movie was at least a 3/5 stars. So a movie that is unanimously 3/5 stars would get a 100%, as would a movie that is unanimously 5/5 stars.

Also worth noting Rise of the Beasts started out with a pretty high score and glowing fan reviews from the advanced screenings, and we all know how that turned out. Entertaining but not very good. This 92% will likely drop rapidly as non-fan reviews come in.

91 to 87 in a handful of hours. Don't know what that says for the film, but that keeps Bumblebee at the top spot, score-wise. I'm a little surprised that it's as high as it is.

 

Still to soon to say, as the score can also scale upwards

 

I know how RT works, but still being below Bumblebee is disappointing (I think that one started with 100%)

87% does not mean the movie is a 8.7 out of 10, it means 87% of people who reviewed it liked it. It's dentist recommendations rules.

 

No, no it did not. It debuted to like, 65% and dropped to the 50s...

It's 2024 and there's still people out there that think rotten tomatoes itself is one big critic lol. Wild

 

TBH it's insane to me how RT has been outed numerous times as fudging review scores either direction and people still take them seriously or think they're the "final say" on how a movie is received.

 

That's why, unfortunately, it's kind of "important" what the number ends up being for a film on their site, because some people look to them to determine if they should see a film or show. I loved TF One, therefore I would be happy if it did well at the BO, so of course I'd like the number to be great on RT for the few people that will look to the score as a reason to skip or watch.

 

65% is a fresh rating. Its current rating is rotten. Fan reviews were very positive.

Good memory, it debuted at 67%, went up to 75% I think and then fell to 52%

TBH I care, if only because there are people who absolutely use the RT score to decide to see a movie or not. So a high score means those people are more likely to give TF One a chance

 

Hmpf, eeeeveryone knows you can't trust Rotten Tomatoes, it would be rather foolish to take anything that site says seriously (unless I agree with RT's consensus, in which case it's concrete proof that my opinion is correct)
