As much as I like MTMTE, Prophet: Earth Wars was absolutely mind-blowing, and is better than any comic IDW has ever put out. If you don't believe me, pick up Prophet from the start and enjoy living in the insane far-future for a while. Also, I hope IDW realizes how much of that award was earned by Milne, who they're currently treating like garbage, as even when Roberts' writing got irritating (especially with the whole dumbass Tarn head-fake, and the overuse of 4th wall breaking) Milne's visual story telling saved it from occasionally flirting with the feel of fan-fiction when Roberts seemed to be in a rut. Without Milne, MTMTE would have never gotten this award, and that's not a knock on Roberts, Milne's just that damn good.
like it had real competition... i saw there something like Paper Girl or Paper Girls lmao, never heard in my life about any other comic on that list
Cave Carson placed? Man, I gotta pick that up. ...Oh shit, Season 2 of Kaijumax is out? gotta get me that.
Well deserved, although Paper Girls was my personal sci fi favorite of 2016. Pretty cool my top three favorite books were in the top three places.
There are some good ass comics on that list. Saga, Paper Girls, Bitch Planet... I mean those are all time greats there. This is a really big deal to me! Cave Carson has been awesome so far too. I think some non-comics fans who only read TF dont quite have an idea 1) how many awesome comics there are 2) that MTME is considered just as good as anything out there.
Honestly, I'd have given it to Paper Girls, it's just so endearingly crazy like a prime-era Spielberg flick waiting to happen. Tom King's The Vision was also another excellent series and well worth checking out, even if you've never been remotely interested in the character.
Cool, though this years batch of MTMTE wasn't that great unfortunately. Hopefully next year the win is much more deserved.
I agree with that. Milne was always at the go for IDW even when he was close to being burned out he gave his all and the art always reflected his passion. I can understand IDW wanting to give him a small break, but he and Roberts made this book, and honestly, they deserve to finish it together. Even when James would falter, Milne's work helped pull it through. There wasn't a single panel where I was not drawn in by each detailed line. work like his is one in a million, and to be replaced by a sub-par imitator.. is just insulting.
