I wonder what they have to say about Top Gun...

Who cares if it promotes the military? Civilian life doesn't offer us cool toys like that.

Thats because of the cool toys. Lol.

I really can't see how it couldn't help but show off the military. If there's a war going on in the US between giant alien robots, I can't see how the military would ignore it.

bay has a close relationship with pentagon dudes since pearl harbor. thats how he can order up shots of military operations with ease, hes got connections. meanwhile, as far as the military is concerned, they see the publicity as recruitment drive. so both parties gets their dick suck, everybodys happy.

    So?

Article shoulda been titled "Transformers Movie Promotes the Military, Marketing Some Say," and then never been published 'cause it's not news.

There are military-sponsored NASCAR drivers, the military appears at sporting events, etc. They're trying to sell a product--service in the military--just like GM is trying to sell cars. It's not propaganda--the promotion of ideas or views--it's advertising, functionally no different from what other corporations are doing in the film.

    LOL!

If anything, Transformers was propaganda in the Spielbergian sense of making us feel worthwhile as a race. We get all fuzzy when we realise Optimus loves us and would die for us.

Meh, the movie was more advertising(well actually it'd be better to call their involvment product placement) than the actual propaganda that is their tv spots.

'Join the Army, You might get to fly a helicopter or control a missile system, but you'll most probably just be a janitor, ditch digger, or work in an office'.

Nothing TF related, but people there wanted(not sure if they were successful) Military recruiters from coming to their High Schools saying that it's propaganda.

Well sure the military play a significant role in the movie, it just wouldn't be a good robot invasion story without them. How does humanity fight back against hostile forces without military tech, weapons and vehicles? Does anyone really think the movie shouldn't have involved the military?
