untitled first part for now, PAGE 1 Im just letting you guys know, I ve been thinking bout this for a while, But today I decided to take the plunge and do a whole Transformers "movie concept" comic, of course im not going to call it Transformers the movie comic, Ill give it another name, IE: Transformers Battlegrounds, or some junk like that. But the premise is basically the same. All modern detailed interpretations of the original characters. This is going to be a long long long project, i may not even complete it, till the around the actual movie hits, cause ill be the only one working on it, story and art. And I wont be able to work on it every single day, therell be days weeks ill be able to get alot done, and days i cant get to do any work. The reason its goign to take long, cause im going to try not to skimp on the details, gonna try to make every panel to its best. I may not be able to accomplish that, but ill give it a try. The ultimate goal is to finish a graphic novel. Hey Im not working for no comic company, so there are no deadlines, I can take my time with this one. So dont be looking for any movie concept art anymore.. I will share sample work from time to time to show you guys where im up to, and how its progressing,
Nifty! The lines look great! I will say though that the very last panel... something looks off in perspective. Like the guy standing there isn't on the side of the road right. I think he may be too big, or the car in front too small.
In the last square the car seems too small but besides that I'm loving the concept. Is that Hot Rod in one of the squares? Nice!.
Nice work so far. I also have a problem finsihing these kind of projects. Theres nothing really wrong with the past panel, but maybe a different angle would help.
you should be able to see more of the top of the car in the last panel. and in the first panel top right corner I think the moon should be rounder. overall I like it. are you going to just keep updating in this thread?
Impressed as always with your work but I am definately excited about the whole concept....can't wait to see more Question: are you going to do each page as a whole b4 moving on to the next or will you tackle the entire project as drawings, the inks, the colors and so on?
Thanks Roadbuster, yeah there are going to be some off perspectives, at least for teh first couple ofpages, the more pages I do, the more that problem will be rectified. Ive never really sat down and practiced my perspectives, thats one of the reasons i wanna do this comic, Thanks. Thanks Brave, yeah that is Hotrod. Thanks Cobra Commander, means alot Thanks Shin, perhaps down the line ill get a lil better with how to angle thigns and what not. Thanks TGping, perhaps i can play around with the perspective on the last one maybe shorten or lengthen some lines, THanks Thanks Blue streak, all the lines will be done first, then the colors then the dialogue, or I may do the dialogue first, not sure yet.
How long does it take you to produce such a page ( in a matter of hours ) ? If you do that quick enough, you have a good chance to becaome a storyboard artist.
Page 2 folks lines for now Thanks IACON, right now im averaging a page a day. pros can do about 2-4 pages a day, so is not that impressive, but its a start. Thanks man
Oh....man.... Prowler, that is really some great stuff you've got going there. Despite the perspective issues, you've really got some great detailing there. On the first page, I think I can see Hot Rod, Kup, and Sideswipe or Sunstreaker (in vehicle modes), as well as Ultra Magnus. Again, this is very good work and I'm excited to see how all of this progresses.
Prowler, from the start, your mastery of lines and geometry for mechanical stuff has been absolutely fantastic. It's so fun watching your stuff show up. Fantastic work, as usual. Can't wait to see more good stuff.
I love your stuff, maybe someone should knock on IDW's door on Prowlers behalf. God knows that's how Don started. Make your life a little easier though, get a circle stencil or protractor. Drawing circles within circles (ie: the wheels on panel 4 pg 1) will make you nuts. Some of them even have centering marks.
I, for one Appreciate insane amount of detail work and it shows the amount of effort you've put in every panel some perspective problems but it's very minor. if anything, I would suggest you consider playing with lighting effects, adding some shading to give the scenes some depth, (like under the car) everything a bit 2D at the moment and the details of the foreground and background elements seem to blend together. Adding bolder outlines on the moving Characters/focal points would help alot as well
Hey thanks there StarCracker Yeah the only way ill get better with the perspectives is to keep doing them, lol you are right about hot rod kup, and sideswipe, I think the other guy is just some random bot, lol ya know what cause you thought it, I think I will make one of those big trucks ultra magnus. Originally it wasnt suppose to be, but your the second person who thought so, so might as well make it so, Thanks man. Thanks Soundwarp, appreicates it OP thanks man, I know my weaknesses, and I know me strengths, perspectives may but me a bit, but I love detailing, now If I can get both to be perfectly asthetic, then ill be happy, THanks man LOL your prob right, I really need to get my lazy ass over to an art store, and invest in a circle oval template of some sort. And I apprecite the kind words man, appreciates it. Thanks Infosaur. Hey coming from cobra commander, that means alot, THanks man Thanks Fretburn, yeah there going to be alot of guess the transformer cameos in the intro pages, LOL i think i started somethign I didnt mean to, but its cool, tis all about fun reading comics. And ill keep doing guess the transformer game.. lol thats cool brave magnus, Iam a Christian, but I dont judge, "of course I never curse" yeah right Thanks for the input man. appreciates teh kidn words. WOW, iam honored, the master himself commented on my work. Ya know I will definatley take heed of those suggestions. Your right It could definaltey use the bold outlines, infact thats what im going to do now for page 3, add some bolder outlines to the characters here and there. I may have to use the shading also. Thanks Don, I appreciate it. LOL i think ill print this post out, and frame it now.
Very nice work indeed, Prowler. Don covered most of what I was going to suggest so I'll comment on the very cool looking Grapple you drew on pg.2 that resembles Cybertron OP a little. (cause I was wondering how that might look.) Any chance for a Robot mode for him? BTW, you would be surprised at how many "pros" get by on a page a day in this industry. (or less)
