The blockiness gives me hope that the transformation is relatively straightforward and not the contortion act that several of the more recent MPs have. Not that I transform my figures all that much, but it's nice the have the option without fear of breakage.

 

HMMMMM this DEFINITELY looks like an older design. The articulation, or lack there of is the biggest giveaway, along with what looks to be an extremely straighforward transformation. I also wouldn't bet on him including any more accessories than those pictured here. Will probably only run like $70 retail.

 

Actual mechanical details! No fake parts! Such an encouraging direction for the MP line. Now sort out those licensing issues and give us a JAZZ in this style, Takara!!

 

I wouldn't count on this being a trend, the initial announcement made it sound like a one off or sub line. Sort of like how most gundam merch is highly anime accurate, but there are things like real grade with real world detailing.

I'm 100% in for a Diaclone red version. That alt-mode looks great!

 

The face looks a little weird. Well, more like the helmet/brow. Also what's up with the weird holes in the tires? They're pinned, so they're not clip holes. (on a MP they damn well shouldn't be clip-on)

Otherwise, it's fantastic. And hey look, it's just like I said, the detail isn't overbearing or overdone at all.

I'm blown away by how Hasui-era this thing looks. The molded detail, the lack of faux parts, and G1 toy inspiration really feel like a throwback to those mid-period MPs. Maybe you can attribute that to Skids not having much of a presence in the cartoon but wow, what a breath of fresh air. The head looks slightly weird and a bit small but otherwise I love what I'm seeing.
