It could be the step in the right direction to somewhat bring the Transformers Masterpiece line back to its "origins" just like a modernized Diaclone Car Robot line. Some soul searching for Takaratomy to get sales and interest for the brand once again. Capture the original magic.
The UK version had some great stories though. Skids did get lost in the shuffle.
Mall esclusive could be relased the same months as retail release, iirc
Whats the likelyhood of an actual Masterpiece Crosscut?
Sure it could! Either way seems just as likely as the other to me
100% going to happen. If they did Crosscut and Skids first a lot of people would consider their "Skids mold" finished in their collections. Now people will buy Reboost because they want to see what another repaint will be like, and they'll want that Motocampo. Then in a few months they'll reveal Crosscut. And Everyone will definitely want that. Putting Reboost before Crosscut guarantees more sales of both Reboost and Crosscut in the long run I feel. Also Crosscut is already mentioned in Roadrage's MP Extended Bio.
The real question is will we get a black Skids? Black Ironhide has me nervous about that improbability.
I hope Takara calls them Burnout, even though that is a name that Botcon made up.
I wonder if Skids will get a normal production run, or will they split it between him Reboost. I mean pricewise he would have to be really cheap for two full runs of the same mold released at the same time to even be viable, unless Reboost is in effect a mall exclusive.
If Reboost is a wide release while Thundercracker and Skywarp are lower production TTM exclusives, what does it say about the popularity of bad guys in Japan?
In this case I think it would be more Honda pushing it, especially if were talking plus repaint prices . I think Wheeljack and Swipe were like $65 shipped, maybe a little bit more with taxes now.
The other thing is most decepticons will run to the higher price end of the price spectrum which makes them a harder sell. About the only cheaper deceptocons we could expect are probably individually sold insecticons.
They don't sell.
That’s where I’m getting at. The sad idea that a made up character from last week, with zero history or fanbase, can out sell well known Decepticon characters like TC and SW is...crazy. Of course, this has not come to pass and is just hypothetical...for now.
Every other Japanese toyline I collect has heroes and villains. Plenty of Masterpiece Decepticons, too.
Not hypothetical Big Buddy Winstobot. Only reason bad guys do sell is because of US adult collectors with disposable funds to spend. And given the limited quantities pressed, the aftermarket prices are murder to the pocket!
"Remember, we belong to him..........." Oooops! wrong line. Remember, the toy business as a whole caters to 90% kids who depend on mommy and daddy to get their dopamine fix. 10%, us, well you know the rest.
Autobot cars also out sell Decepticon jets because they only cost half as much or so. And half the size, so regular retailers are more likely to have the shelf space to carry them.
Fat Toys Corner
This is a new mold as well, vs a repaint
So November for both then, and 53 and 54
Jeez Skids sure is light on accessories!
I understand why they aren’t giving him a second blue weapon, easier to just do them all in chrome since both production runs are probably happening simulatneously.
