Huh. Weird that they got that wrong. But I guess we did just find out that they gave Starscream's stats to Skywarp back in the day. Or maybe that was Budiansky's original role for him before he changed his mind and made him an anthropologist.

 

Roadblock was both a Heavy Machine-gunner and a Cook, so maybe Skids can be both?

 

I have been drifting away from the hobby and stopped buying Takara MP figures a couple of years ago, but I saw the prerelease pictures, the price and well, I couldn't resist. Skids was one of my favorite TF toys as a kid, primarily because I was the only one in my group of friends who actually had him! This feels very much like a throwback in every way. The price was fair, the toy/toon hybrid is there and nothing fell off/crumbled/scratched during transformation.

Would love to see more of this! But I have to believe this is an old design they have sat on for years and decided to release now for whatever reason. Even picked up the Diaclone recolor, something I haven't done in years. At this price, why not! As i finish up my masterpiece collection and transition away from the hobby, it was a pleasant surprise to see this release come along and an even greater surprise that it was a high quality piece. Good on Takara for this one.

Got mine yesterday from Chosen Prime. Nice to see the back to basics style. Have to force myself not to get all three like I did the Datsuns/nissans.

Got a message yesterday that DHL handed off my boys to usps for final delivery. Today a DHL van pulls in my driveway and hands them to me. I then get a message from usps a few minutes ago that my package may be lost. I know shipping & deliveries are a mess with the holidays & the pandemic, but get your sh*t together DHL & usps!! 

 

Got my Skids on Friday, cracked him open on Sunday, and finally getting around to posting today. Such is the busy life of an adult but I still find time for my toys!!

Anyway… I know I’m in the minority, but Skids is a great return to form regarding everything I think an MP transformer should be. The transformation was fun and intuitive and I didn’t have to block out an entire afternoon for it. I love the details in the bot mod and the realistic alt mode. The price didn’t break the bank. I feel like I can just pick this guy up and mess with him without needing to find the instructions and/or worry about breaking him. I know that’s it’s extremely subjective, but I think Skids finds the right balance between being a simple toy designed for adults and being an overly complicated work of art that’s no fun to play with.

 

Got mine as well. I'm honestly not sure if I like the MP take on the mold or the X-transbots take more (I have X-transbots Crosscut, although it's possible he may ultimately be replaced by the MP). Both have little odd choices and different strengths.

I do absolutely love that i can leave the rearview mirrors out! (I know I'm not supposed to, but it makes me happy!)

Really wish they would have managed to get the shoulders in a little closer to his body, that would have made a huge difference.

 

I wonder will they make a + version with no details on the thighs and his shoulders from the toon like XTB.

 

Highly doubt it. Given the promotion around this (with Honda even selling it on their own website!) this is the figure.

I received the package from AE (sent by SAL!) with Skids and Reboost today. Haven’t had the time to open it yet, but looking forward to doing so later this evening!

 

After having Skids and Reboost in-hand for a couple days and transforming them several times, I think it's safe to say they're two of my favorite MPs to date. Between the straightforward transformation and the lack of jigsaw puzzle like panel lines some of the ultra toon MPs can have, it's just flat out fun to fiddle around with.

 

I'm hoping to see Reboost on sale at some point, as I only want him for the missile launcher accessory. Flippin' Takara, they couldn't throw one in the Skids box?

Have been having lots of fun with him regardless, very solid effort I'd say.

 

Has anyone dared disassemble the legs? I wanted to swap thighs between reboots and skits. But in hand, I see a lot of pins …

 

Just a curious thought: anyone determined what scale the alt mode is? I knoe the City Turbo is small, but I was just wondering how it scales the other MP’s.

 

Love this dude - and don't believe the naysayers - he fits in just fine with all eras of the carbots!

 

And guess what, I received a message from PostNL today that my Skids will be delivered soon, but that I had to pay €7,20 for import taxes first. No payment link was shown in the app though. About half an hour later I get another message that I can pay and the option is offered via the website and app. I paid via the app and now it's just a matter of waiting until they deliver the package here. Don't know why this didn't happen for the blu-ray, but I'm glad it did happen now.

btw, according to the documentation the total value was 15 euro and thus we had to pay 7,20 in VAT (not import). That's a hefty tax, almost 50 percent.
