The Conehead seeker everyone likes and couldn't wait to see once Ramjet was teased, THRUST. Big thanks to Toy Dojo for filling those preorders as quickly as they did! The guy always takes care of his customers!

    Alright, onto the review!

Transformation: It isn't anything new if you own any of the previous seekers. Thrust sports some minor changes to the wing hinge; in most seekers, the wings flip up but Thrust's flip down. Also, Thrust's weapons fold in half! How cool is that!
    IMG_8730.JPG IMG_8731.JPG

Assembly: Thrust doesn't have Ramjet's shoulder issue; however, my copy could be an anomaly. I would suggest checking your figure immediately.

    IMG_8735.JPG IMG_8737.JPG

Joint Tightness: I would say Thrust is similar to Ramjet, the legs slide in and out easily. However, the leg slide doesn't hinder the figure's poseability.

    IMG_8734.JPG IMG_8739.JPG IMG_8740.JPG

Jet Comparisons: The Seeker mold is an old one, whether you started with the original Green Scream or jumped on with Ramjet, the mold just keeps going! What do you guys think? Is it time to retire ?
    IMG_8703.JPG IMG_8707.JPG IMG_8711.JPG IMG_8713.JPG

Fun Factor: It's Thrust! How can you not have fun!
    IMG_8713.JPG IMG_8741.JPG IMG_8714.JPG

Purchase: I'm surprised so many people are comparing Toyworld's jet to Takara's Thrust. Is Toyworld's jet a great looking figure? Sure it is, no question. Is it Thrust? Nope... not by a long shot. Takara's Masterpiece line continues to improve and their jets are so accurate its hard to argue against it. At the risk of sounding like a broken record, Thrust is a fantastic representation of the G1 Toon character.

Thanks for the review. Yes, I think the mold should be retired. I know a lot of people like it and the jet mode is still gorgeous, but the bot mode, even with the MP11 changes, still doesn't fit in and has a lot of inherent issues.

That all being said, Thrust has always been my favorite seeker (aesthetically) so it's nice to see him even if it's not my favorite mold.

Got my Thrust today, and I love it. I did get bitten by the QC bug though. The pin that connects the upper body to the legs and gives it waist swivel is very loose. My thrust has a bobble body ab crunch going on. I've already emailed where I bought it from to see what can be done.

Been a fan of this mold since day one. MP-11 improvements have been stellar.

Mine just came in from TTMall.

Lovely. No major issues. Only the 'Con insignia on the plane nose is not tampoed crisply but no biggie.

The mold is dated and the pricing is horrible but I can't help but love the conehead MPs.

The boxes though... I wish TakaraTomy didn't try to match the box sizes of the recent MP Seekers with that of MP-11 Starscream. It's unnecessarily big with lots of empty space. At least Starscream had his coronation gear to fill that space. Packaging them in jet mode like they did with the MP-3 Seeker molds would have been so much better. The shipping box TTMall used was even more ridiculously oversized.

Got mine a few days ago and aside from a loose left null-ray joint, everything is tight. No issues with paint as well. Can't wait to have Dirge and complete my seeker collection!

Have had Thrust for a couple days... Better figure then Ram Jet...but still has a little floppiness to him. TT build quality is still okay on this mold... a KO seeker is tighter in build! Wish he wasn't such a slave to the animation model in colors... would have loved the metallic dark bronze of the G1 toy in place of the grey used... Those complaints and opinions aside... He Is my favorite Conehead of the three... and it is great to have him in MP form. Looking forward to Dirge...and then, not alot of other reasons to see a $180 dollar use of this mold again...

Hmm... Well, they could always do the G2 colored version of Ramjet...the Action Masters colored version of Thundercracker...and so on...

Not that I would buy them, but someone out there would.

My Thrust figure should be arriving sometime today.

UPDATE: Okay, just got Masterpiece Thrust. He's okay. Mine seems to have a wobbly waist for some reason I don't know.
Otherwise, if you have MP Ramjet, you know what to expect. Annoying Takara couldn't at least include a stand with all that empty space the box has inside it.

Any one have this issue, where the knee pad doesn't push the black piece out all the way on the lower Leg? I have to pull it out with my finger nail .

Yes I had that same issue on Thrust's right leg. Thought it was going to break, but pushing the kneecap back will cause the black piece to "thurst" through the opening.

Mine has EXTREMELY floppy hip joints. The ratchet is a bit to soft compared to my copy of Ramjet.

Love the scowl on his face, and the metallic gold eyes. They catch the light so well. LOVE IT !!

Does it seem weird that Thrust has a matte face, and Ramjet has a metallic face? Is there any reference to this? Or is Thrust the figure that they are starting with the transition to pure anime looks?

Seems a floppy waist/hip area is a running issue with a number of Thurst figures... Ramjet had the shoulder issue, Thrust a hip/waist... What problem will Dirge have? Oy!

In the animation, Thrust has a lighter, more white face compared to Ramjet and Dirge's black/dark grey ones.

I was excited about this when it was announced but couple the extremely bland deco with my utter disappointment in Ramjet and I'm done with the coneheads.

And while I in no way think the seeker mold is perfect I've got a certain soft spot for it.

Tt's a bland deco because it is matching the Animation models coloring... not the Toy... Which has much richer colors.. and metal flake... decals.
but Since we fans(majority) scream we want animation model toys... That's what we are now getting.

Thrust looks quite nice here, the expression is a tad blank but the face is a nice white colour and the eyes are yellow just like in the cartoon. The body has cartoon accurate colours too, though one could ask is this a good thing? For my money the colours on the toy were far superior to how his colours were portrayed in the cartoon. Thrusts knee pads are a bit too big and obscure his thighs, making him look more stubby than he really is but he does have his tail wings coming out of his calves and the main wings angle all make the legs and torso work. Despite some quibbles that are all relatively minor this is a pretty damn fine looking Thrust!

    Vehicle Mode
The theoretical F15-VTOL mode Thrust was based on has been faithfully represented here. It's really hard not to love the MP Seeker mold – in my opinion the best looking jets of the entire Transformers line ever! A very nice little touch they have put in is that his wing turbines actually rotate, though one has to do it via finger rather than being able to blow on it like some other TF toys. Thrust here has all the features the other MP Seekers have such as the nosecone and cockpit that open. He also has extra guns that go under the wings since his arm mounted ones fold in to the side.

Yep- mine has a floppy waist. It's clearly something to do with the pin that connects the torso to the hips - it needs to be about 1mm shorter. Might try securing the bottom half and giving the whole thing a good few whacks with a hammer to see if it just hasn't gone in correctly. Not impressed with this little snag - especially as the rest of the figure is great!

Got mine today from Tfs-express (UK buyer) and mine has the waist issue emailed them seeing if they can replace it.

The waist pin is a pain to reconnect if you pull it out. I accidentally managed to pull my Hasbro mp starscream apart at the pin and could never get the pin to go back in right so I ended up super gluing the waist to the hips.

In other forums people suggested removing the pin and inserting a self tapping screw.

For £144 I'm not happy with poor QC issues....

Hi just got this back from supplier

We have got confirmed from Takara. It is designed differently and has 2 extra clips in the waist, it's not a QC problem. That means all of them are the same.

Any body know of these extra clips there on about?

I think you're being fobbed off.

Mine has it too. (came from Kapow) seems like Torso just won't sit flush with the waist, like the pin is too long (?)

Clips would restrict torso rotation anyway, wouldn't they?

As a kid, the only G1 Seeker I owned was Thundercracker, but I always loved the look of G1 Thrust with his wing jets. I also loved the CHUG versions of Thrust, and although the character isn't a very prominent one, I've always liked Thrust's G1 inspired alt modes. So after passing up MP Ramjet, I knew I didn't want to pass up MP Thrust (although I'll probably pass on MP Dirge again).

So... I've said it elsewhere, but in actual fact, I've never handled or even just seen any versions of the MP-3 mold or any versions of the MP-11 mold (even though I do own MP-6 and MP-7!). So Thrust was my first actual hands on experience with any of the Masterpiece F-15 seekers. Apart from being slightly unimpressed by the unnecessarily large box he comes in, I was surprised to see him packed in robot mode. Looking at the rather limited selection of accessories through the shell cover, I actually thought I was missing the 'Dr. Arkeville' hologram for a minute, until I noticed it was both tiny and exactly the color of the plastic shell:oops:

Having opened him and transformed him both ways, contrary to lots of other experiences with MP Thrust, I have to say my version is close to perfect. Paint is flawless all over, and I don't recall obvious sprue marks (I'm currently at work, and Thrust isn't here in hand). The loose-ish waist is present, although there's nowhere near even 1 mm of room, more like 0,2 - 0,3 mm. No need to do anything about it as far as I'm concerned. I do notice the 'boobs' move up too easily when moving the arms up at the shoulders, but from what I've heard, that's par for the course for the MP-3 / MP-11 molds? Rest of the joints are very solid, including knees and hips. I'm disappointed the degrees of freedom for his hip joints are rather limited: it seems impossible to get the mold in an actual knees up / sitting pose. Also, the lack of any sort of ankle tilt is a bit a shame.
Head mold is very cool. I like the way his cone-head has been implemented: even though some consider it 'cheating', it works very well for making Thrust look the part. Not too keen on the way the mold handles hiding away the actual nosecone on his back, but it disappears out of sight well enough.
At first I wasn't very sure about the way Thrusts wings were mounted on his legs, but having looked at the cartoon and other source material, I can see the wings are very well placed where they are. Seems like a rather literal drag to have them hanging on his legs, but it's accurate, and that's what counts!

All in all, this is definitely not the disappointment to me I was fearing it might become after having read the experiences other people had with Thrust. I'm probably biased due to this being my first contact with the mold, but I like what I'm seeing. I'll be honest, newer Masterpiece molds have become more refined, with Thrust missing any of the 'Masterpiece moments' ™ which are so popular right now. Transformation process is still rather basic and perhaps even crude, and is 'CHUG-like'. Then again, both modes look excellent and again, that's what's important to me.

Next month I'll hopefully be getting the TakaraTomy Mall Exclusive MP-11SW Skywarp, so I'll be able to compare these two versions of the mold better.
