For a minute I thought the little red and silver guy was young Crosscut. :lolol

As SG Roadbuster said, its been a long 4 months, and I'm glad Mtmte is back. Also, Anode (If that's her name) looks like she could be related to Crosshairs from the Bayverse.

... Did they dig up a snowflake?

Despite it being four months since the last MTMTE issue I still am still not a fan of the forced joking atmosphere jokes Roberts still implements in his comics. I just hope this issue turns out okay.

So I'm thinking the Necrobot shows up and takes one of them to the future?

This dialogue... I can't take the uber protracted quipping much longer. Everyone rants every thought they have in redundant, verbose ways with terrible grammar and unnatural sentence structure because I guess that's funny. It's like every speech bubble is a message board post, written with all the time and comfort and attempts at grand-standing that the scene clearly shows our characters don't have. Shouldn't these characters, under such dire constraints, be conversing in short, to-the-point dialogues instead of running a comedy bit? Can't we have soft-spoken, or rarely spoken characters?

I hate to rail on MTMTE, or I suppose Lost Light now, but I honestly used to love the book. I flaunted it everywhere as the example of great Transformers storytelling. But between the constant TV comedy dialogue, the simplistic senarios and the stupid, and stupid references to things that don't exist that are written purposely childish because I guess that's funny, I'm constantly being forced out of the story. I don't care about either of these new characters, because they're just yet more quick-witted, overly chatty oh-so-lovable goofballs to add to the vat of quick-witted, overly chatty oh-so-lovable goofballs.

Also, the art is distracting. Not bad, but I miss Milne as always.

    :(

    Well said.

I think you make excellent points that I definitely find myself agreeing with. Just because you "rail" on something, criticize it, doesn't mean you don't still love it. I often criticize work I really like because I like it so much.

That "We're intensely dead" panel makes Lug look sort of like Star Saber. Or a dude with Saber's optics wearing Star Saber's helmet.

And the dude in the Cybernought looks like kinda like Deathsaurus. I'm not sure if that's significant.

    Partisan Knees. Heh.

yea that's pretty much my takeaway as well..the dialogue...the quips.

that line "i hate you. as in, i actively hate you. i am in hate with you" i rolled my eyes so hard...we get it. he hates the other bot. didn't need to say it three times in a row. here i thought roberts was going to reel it in a little for the new title...

I know, but I feel bad, because once apon a time finding problems with MTMTE was virtually impossible for me. Now I struggle to find things I even still like about the book

It's like the Bay movies, except replace action with jokes. Everyone loves jokes, just like they love action, but if it's just action with no pause, build up, or quiet moments, it becomes too much. You get boring of it.

Except MTMTE also doesn't do action very well. Huh.

it's just that every character makes the same jokes. swerve sounds like misfire who sounds like rodimus who sounds like skids..everyone is some uber snarky quip machine now and it's getting rather annoying... when everyone is snarky, no one is snarky.

Yeah, the constant "cleverness" is wearing thin. New guy's art isn't bad, but I'm still a card carrying member of the MMM. "Make Mine Milne".

Also, I just noticed that the backpack guy transforms like the Rewind/Rumble Titans Return toy. Kinda.

It's pretty easy for me to overlook flaws in order to enjoy things, and I enjoyed this like I've enjoyed MTMTE Season 2. It's just a shame that there are so many things that I have to overlook nowadays. Jack Lawrence's art is great, though! It looks like a better, more Milne-ish version of Sakamoto's style.

I think that really is Roberts's biggest narrative weakness: all his characters have roughly the same voice. He's got the "main" ones distinct enough; Rodimus, Magnus, Ratchet, Drift, Megatron, Whirl, and Chromedome all have retained distinct manners of speech. Everyone else, though, sort of just ends up in the same sliding scale of snark with little variety.

These new characters are a great example. They have interesting designs, and right off the bat they display a ton of character, which is great. Problem is, you could draw them as Rodimus and Swerve and the dialogue would feel exactly the same.

It's okay to have characters that are constantly sarcastic and snarky, but you need some variety. Guys like Magnus, Drift, and Cyclonus used to provide it, and Megatron still does to an extent, but over time the character voices have sort of merged together into, well, Roberts's voice.
