Is this confirmation that they'll be sold in stores? Or are they going to be online-only like the Marvel Legends Doctor Strange that came out a few months ago?

Velocitron = Name of the speed planet in Transformers: Cybertron (English dub of Galaxy Force).

Speedia = Name of the speed planet in the original Japanese Galaxy Force version.

I find it interesting that Hasbro spells out the specific universe for G2, Diaclone, and RID2K, but not for the G1 or IDW characters. My hypothesis for this:
    • Underscores how central G1 is to the franchise, which is obvious, but further underscored by this
    • Hasbro does not want to directly link to IDW anymore, given the unclear state of the license with that publisher (apologies if I missed any updates on this front, and feel free to correct me here if so)

I mean for IDW could it be a legal thing too? Regardless of the relationship. Like IDW is a company whereas G2, RiD01, etc. are a transformers specific thing.

And more to the point, a company that Hasbro will no longer be doing business with very soon

Doesn't IDW still have the My Little Pony license?

Good point. I would assume that as part of the license, Hasbro retains rights to the specific likeness of a character like Blurr. Though to republish all of those comics under a new publisher, does the new pub and Hasbro need to acknowledge IDW in any way?

Oh for sure but I’d imagine even if they were continuing their business there is still extra legal stuff to slap the name of another company on your stuff.

I’m not quite sure about that tbh. I think it may be contract dependent. I’d imagine there’s something in the contract stating that work and materials produced by IDW must require IDW to be financially compensated and acknowledge for use.

As for the likeness I’m pretty sure lost companies when they do this sort of stuff have a thing in their contract stating that anything they create belongs to the main company. So even though IDW created the Blurr design I’d imagine that Hasbro are the copyright owners of the likeness and therefore can do what they want with it. But also if it’s not specified in their contract then maybe not.

I think ultimately we can’t fully know unless we were able to see the contracts. But my guess would be that Hasbro has full rights to use the likeness of their characters from IDW and IDW have the rights to be acknowledged and compensated for future publications of their work.

As stated above, the contract matters, but when Star Wars moved from Dark Horse to Marvel, Marvel just straight reprinted all of the DH issues in their Epic Collection and Omnibus programs. Odds are, wherever the TF license moves to, so do the characters, ideas, and stories produced at IDW.
