...that combined with how the blue paint curves in bothers my just-waking-up-from-bed mind...

What are we looking at here?

That just looks like the typical plastic-type mismatch to me. The nose is ABS and the wings are nylon.

Speaking as a childhood owner of G1 Springer, honestly a good copy of W'N'R Springer is better than the original! He really was one of the toys that the box art, cartoon and comic model oversold, and that somewhat frustrated me in-hand as a kid. *This* is what wee me wished his G1 Springer looked like!
He just needed a couple of tweaks and a little Toyhax Armory assist!

One wing is significantly darker than the other.

Then that photo doesn't show it off very well. It's well within the range of lighting variance there.

So now yellow has yellowing? What is going on with plastic in toys atm? First time I saw it was lego started having problems with the same plastic color having various shades in it, now Hasbro has yellowing and mismatching colors within the same type of plastic. This is wack.

    It's not necessarily yellowing.

There are batch variances in plastic. The colour is literally a dye they add to raw plastic pellets. Just a slightly different mix can result in subtle hue differences. All it takes is to grab parts from different plastic sprues.

Nothing's changed. This is the way it's always been. Just that we're getting pickier.

Lego's consistency issue is because, to meet demand, they've opened up factories all over the world. A far cry from back when we were young and everything could be made under the same roof.

Fair, but it is becoming noticeably more common. For lego especially I hope they figure out a way to fix it as they keep upping prices.

As for transformers, seeing how many posts we have about variants in shades, seems like it’s worse than usual. Normally batch variants in subtle hue changes aren’t this common.

It's directly related to how cool the plastic has gotten since you held it into place. If you can immerse it in colder water while being clamped it will set faster.
Certain plastics in some of my figures, Netflix Megatron, SG Starscream, Selects Sandstorm, Netflix Soundwave, probably more, have yellow/discoloring in some areas. On Netflix Megatron some of the gray parts are almost green. On Netflix Soundwave some of his blue parts, like his shoulder connections, have turned green as well.

I got these pics elsewhere in the thread earlier, I cancelled my Leadfoot set because of them.

I think I see what you're talking about here, but if you're going to post qc issues about yellowing you need the shadows behind the figure, all of you took photos with shadows to one side, which in turn makes it easy to dismiss your claim and blame it lighting conditions.

My first stab at a Spindle x Masterdominus combination using every piece. He looks okay from the front but is a dog’s breakfast from the back.

now owning the two new wrecker fossilizers, the combiner head looks way worse in person. it doesn't sit flush against the skill piece and it just kinda looks terrible from every angle.

Got my Leadfoot and Masterdominus in today. My Leadfoot is fine, the shoulders and front spoilers aren't an egregious mustard gold. I did almost have a scare with Masterdominus when trying to pull his crotch out of the spine shoulder; the entire crotch is painted, including the waist peg, meaning that it's going to be a bit of an insanely tight fit in there when you plug it in for beast mode. Just a bit of a heads up.

Ok but what the hell is the weird Spine "Gun" the instructions offer as a possible piece-combo for Masterdominus.

To be fair, in his picture you can tell that there is a mismatch in plastic among plastic in the same shadow. 3E799D23-B54A-4BF9-A5F2-FEC4A4AB6CEB.jpeg
