I got Transformers Legacy Velocitron Speedia 500 Collection Victory Universe Galaxy Shuttle. Modern toy names are dumb, lol.

I do have a few of his Speedia 500 Collection wave mates, but they're so out of scale that it's ridiculous to display it with the intended play pattern(they should have included miniatures like with Titans Return Broadside, that could have plugged into the interior of the space trailer/coal car, that would have gone a long way).


This isn't going to be a full review, as it is the Siege/Earthrise Astrotrain mold again, and shares all the same good points and flaws. They did nothing to address the problem of the launch pad not sitting flat, so refer to the Astrotrain review thread for solutions to that.

The new head sculpt is great.


I personally think it hilarious that I never even considered this particular configuration of guns with Astrotrain. It's probably that having these three guns in red, instead of ALL guns being black, grouped these together in my mind, and now this is my default configuration of these guns for Galaxy Shuttle in robot mode.

I'm a little bummed that he doesn't have the tailfin gun of the original, but perhaps a 3rd party will think of something.

He is obviously too small to scale properly with the imminent Victory Saber release, but is workable (but still really too small) with Robotmasters Star Saber, if you have one.



Being an Astrotrain remold, he of course turns into a train too. I know it would have been a ton more work and potentially added to the price, but I wish they had redone the second mode (like what they did with Titans Return Alpha Trion into TR Broadside) to maybe make a proper base mode, or clean up the shuttle more. At that point just do a brand new mold, I guess. Oh well. Here's the train mode, which I will probably never turn it to again, with Robotmasters Victory Leo.


I'm not going to pull Siege Omega Supreme out of my display, but here are some groupings with appropriate space-themed Autobots.


I got through my entire photoshoot for robot mode, and realized when transforming it that the hip skirts were up the whole time, and that speaks to how good it looks either way. It hindered the waist rotation that way, and I didn't even notice. But for good measure, here's a pic with them down.

All in all, I like it, and would definitely recommend it if you've already got a bunch of the recent space bots.

 

I like it. I don't have any real connection to the media character, so perhaps I enjoy it more for that, not really caring whether or not it's big enough.

Kinda gives me the impression of "What if Jazz upgraded into a space-faring mode?"

 

HAHA. You right. That head sculpt reminds me of Jazz.

 

Got in Galaxy Shuttle today from Pulse

Comparison with Siege Astrotrain and my custom version of Galaxy Shuttle from Armada Jetfire and a 3rd party Astrotrain head, I'll be retiring him now for this new official update

 

Man, I wasn't even considering him until you mentioned this since I do have the Robotmasters set. Now he's on my radar

This is exactly what I wanted the Earthrise update of Astrotrain to be – a shuttle/train transformer in realistic colors. I'm definitely hunting him down once he starts hitting shelves.

 

Idk why the he'll this isn't just called Space Jazz. It looks nice though. It'll look even better next to my Skylynx. Hopefully i find one

 

I think Galaxy Shuttle looks much better with Siege/ER Astrotrain's black weapons.

 

FFS I just picked up Siege Astrotrain last week and all of these posts are making me instantly regret it. 

I have no attachment to the character but he looks sharp. Amazing what a good deco can do for an okay mold.

 

My Walmart preorder for Galaxy Shuttle just got pushed to Jan 6, 2023.

 

Fun fact: In Star Wars lore, "space jazz" is known as "jizz" (ala the Mos Eisley cantina band). Do with that knowledge as you will...

Can I just ask where everyone is getting these from? You all are in the US/Wal-Mart?

I live in Japan, and typically all the US exclusives always get released in Asia (& I buy through RobotKingdom)... but I actually reached out to RK and they said they weren't aware they'd be getting this or not, which baffles me. I hope it's not going to be the first "truly US-only" exclusive--because that would massively suck and be a huge "F U" to all international fans...  

 

I think Takara will solicit Velocitron wave 2 eventually, they sold wave 1 as TT Mall exclusives and some of those are still around on the Japanese retailers I order from here in Australia and I think those took a bit to be available there after showing up in US stores. For your sake I hope they will, anyway.

They are looking very nice. Only just got Astrotrain yesterday and it is a very nice figure. Not sure whether they will end up a part of my collection but at the least I like seeing everyone's photos and it is cool to see this figure in a more realistic colour scheme/to see a character like this get made by Hasbro

That shuttle mode is a crime, and even worse in proper shuttle colors.

Good review!! I want this one so bad. I really thought it was going to be readily available and didnt preorder it.

I think all 3 modes look great. I really want to get some paint goin on this guy when I find one.

 

I am in Toronto, Canada, and pre-ordered through Walmart when I realized the Hasbro Pulse allotment was sold out pretty much instantly. It was found locally in-stores around the middle of November, and they shipped my pre-order a week later.

I do hope you are able to get one!
