I sincerely apologize because I know that I'm beating a dead horse at this point but wow. This very minute detail kind of serves as a "salt in the wound" reminder that Hasbro is doing their absolute best at making sure the G1 figures as are as accurate as possible while doing the absolute bare minimum with the non-G1 figures in this line. Blitzwing looks great and I plan on getting him since I lost my T30 figure in a move some years ago, but Jesus Christ.

Without question, I agree with PVP that this is the best CHUG Blitzwing to-date. However, I do agree with some of you guys that the jet mode on the TR version is overall cleaner than the Legacy version. The top of the jet is nice, but then it looks awful towards the bottom. I think even the T30 version's jet mode might a bit cleaner than the Legacy version. I think the tank mode is better than the other two figures' tank modes, but of course the jet cockpit sticking out the front (can't possibly word this any better :D ) is the biggest problem with it. But personally I think the jet wings hanging out the sides on the TR version are worse, and the T30 version is okay, but I think it looks a little squat in comparison to Legacy. That's probably more of a nitpick, but that's the way I see it. As for the robot mode, I don't think it's even a contest; I think the Legacy version is far superior, especially when compared to the T30 version. I also won't be using the Energon hands for the most part, but even if they were not included, I'm not sure how much better the alt-modes would look without them. Saying that this is what happens with Triplechangers may be a cop-out, but that's literally what happens with Triplechanger toys in general; there are always compromises for at least one of the modes of the figure.

There's no doubt in my mind that I want this figure, and an Overcharge repaint if they make it. I continue to be impressed with the Legacy line in general, and probably my most anticipated figures at this point are the rest of the Stunticons. I'm also hoping that they make a new Octane in the next year or two. I have the TR versions of all 3 of the Decepticon Triplechangers, and I think they are pretty decent figures, but they are getting replaced, including Octane even if they haven't announced a new one yet.

I really don't mind if its just a buffed up voyager as long as the quality warrents 50, but I can't see him worth 50.

Astrotrain’s gear also didn’t look out of place. With Blitzwing outside of robot mode there’s not much functionality with the fists.

I don’t expect Hasbro and Takara to nail everything and this is 1 of those cases where I don’t think they did.

All that being said: would I have liked this if I'd gotten it as a kid? Hell yes I would have. So I'll just have to file this under "not really for me."

    Okay.

    Then don't buy it.

People here complain, but then the next time you see them it's begging for preorder links or posting their in-hand pics.

Hell, there's people in *this thread* saying "I'm just going to throw them in a bin!" Welp, that's on them. Hasbro doesn't give a shit if you play with them or throw them out. They get your buck regardless.

That's why all this whining is hilarious. Because rarely does it mean anything. And Hasbro knows it. So they'll do what they need to do to keep the line profitable and the whales will keep dumping money in go incrementally "more accurate" figures.

Oh definitely. But people wanted *accuracy* so a G1 Blitzwing with multiple faces was a no-go. Instead we get tank dick.

This is a fantastic looking Blitzwing, and I would absolutely get it if I didn\'t already have the also really solid Titans Return Blitzwing.

I'm in! TR Blitz was a favorite-- still think its a great figure but this'll replace it. Great bot mode, B+ tank mode and C average jet mode. The design choices for the tank (that cockpit thing) and Jet (crazy undercarriage) are disappointing but I think the overall package is a step up from past versions.

Prediction: The same old song of "Oh, I thought this was terrible but now that I have it in-hand, I really like it." Yup. We're going on that rodeo again.

How did Mechanic Studios manage to nail Blitzwing on Legends-plus scale and Hasbro beef it at Leader? I get that there are parts/budget/drop tests constraints, but the Mechanic Studios version isn't doing anything wacky. If anything, its engineering is downright conservative.

I\'m really conflicted, the bot mode is nigh perfect, I just wish he were a bit meaner looking. It makes me sad though that both of the previous voyager Blitzwings had better alt modes than this one. Legacy has the weakest tank mode and the weakest jet mode out of every Blitzwing in this scale. Ultimately if it holds together better and I don\'t have to decapitate it to transform him, this is probably still the Blitzwing for me. I just expected better, especially since he\'s a leader.

The hulk hands look stupid in all three modes. I thought we were done with gimmicks like that, come on now. That energy should have been put towards cleaning up the vehicle modes.

Ah yes, more pointless garbage for a Voyager figure to get him to the leader class price.

I was wondering about that also but the way the hinges fold up, I’m not sure. Even if they did, I wonder if they’d be far back enough to resemble a MIG-25 from the top but maybe not(given how short the vertical stabilizers are and how pushed up they are near the wings and engines).

I think we can deduct that basing the toy off the cartoon model(which was already further removed from the G1 toy) was probably the easiest route within their allocated budget. Hopefully the toy is stable all around.

Make the sides purple, grey-circled parts are eliminated, and the top part (circled in red) is bigger. Few tweaks and it would be perfect

Only benefit is that thankfully they can be left off the figure entirely rather than being built into it.

(Just going with the basic selection) As I look at Siege Astrotrain and Springer, TR Octane, and 30th Sandstorm, I don't see which of the modes is supposed to look bad.

I'll give that TR Blitzwing is the robot mode but only because he's a tad different to the G1 for the shoulder look, but most picture shows him with the wings folded completely, which if you leave them slightly open can help with his look.

Heck even most of the other TR triple changers aren't that bad.

I do like that you can collapse the turret gun down in bot mode if you want. That mechanism was the one part that made me go "Oo! Clever!" outloud.
