I have a feeling my collecting is going to end with Earthrise with these price increases.  I want Skorponok, the Battlechargers, and the Datsun guys.  Looks like my Transformers money is going to be earmarked for my army truck restoration (better than beer IMO LOL).

i miss the days of my childhood, where an animated deluxe was only like $10 u . u super cartoon accurate, no gimmicks, decent to great articulation, amazing designs as toys themselves. things get more expensive with time but jeez, doubling the prices in only ten years doesn't feel right. hopefully this is just for kingdom, the only one i've got my eye on in that line is tracks but at this rate he better blow me away. i feel like he's just gonna be a runamuck retool but i am holding out hope he's gonna be better than that.

We’ve been getting better figures, so a price hike was inevitable. This combined with Deluxes with extras at Voyager prices, and Voyagers with extra pieces at Leader prices.
That just means I’m getting pickier, and narrowing my focus.

With each passing figure I’m getting closer and closer to done.

Man, a price hike yet again when its finally the Beast Wars line sucks. That said, I could always use more excuses to stop collecting so if its hike up again next line and its more G1 then I'll be happy to stop collecting.

Edit: With Canadian pricing and taxes this may end almost an extra 5$ for me which would suck.

I don’t foresee me buying many Deluxes once the price hike goes into effect. I’ve already got “good enough “ versions of most characters I want anyway. And this will absolutely kill any impulse buying on my part.
My active collecting years may be winding down.

Wildly irresponsible speculation on my part: The RED line.

As the 6 inch TF figures, I am thinking Hasbro wanted them to match the price of their other 6 inch figures - SW Black and Marvel Legends. However, it is hard to justify charging the same price for a less detailed non-transforming figure with roughly the same articulation. So they hiked up the deluxe prices to make the RED line seem like a better value.

Like I said, wildly irresponsible, and I'm not even going to claim I believe it. Just a passing thought. I fully expect someone with better business experience to berate me for my ignorance, but as a science guy I fully believe in tossing out hair-brained hypotheses and seeing if they withstand scrutiny.

I think you all are misinterpreting my post. I’m comparing Centurion to Hot Rod.

You know, I see it get mentioned that Deluxes, especially in WFC, have been downsized greatly, but are they really? Maybe my random assortment of figures was just lucky but they don’t really seem that much smaller to me.

Warpath there is like 3/4 a head taller than Hound, but Spinister is 3/4 a head taller than Warpath.

Inflation really sucks. I remember getting a figma for 20 dollars on Amazon 7 years ago and that was a high end collectable figure. Now main line deluxe class Transformers are more expensive than even that.

I might as well just wait till someone sells a collection of those Beast Wars figures as a lot on Ebay in the future for an affordable price because these figures are becoming too expensive.

Could just be a Walmart.com price f*up like they did with 35th Siege Soundblaster asking $39.99, $49.99 ER Sky Lynx... and the now 'permanent' $53.71 Siege Hotlink.

Sheesh, go home Walmart, you're drunk! :p

The 2$ increase adds up especially when you add currency rate, and that adds up quickly...

Back to online shopping for me it seems.

I wonder how this will affect local prices here. We have been paying for a deluxe 29,99€ in local stores and local online shops. That is about 35$. If the quality increases, I'm fine with higher prices. If not, they are pricing us out sooner or later. I wonder why it is so expensive here. I think 2010 the prices were about the same as the US Dollar prices. We were paying like 14,99€ for a deluxe.

Id call that living in the past. You cant keep jacking up the price and passing the costs to your customers. Sometimes you gotta take the L. How well has passing the cost worked for the airlines ?

They can shove it where the sun don’t shine. Waiting on sales or not buying at all. I have no interest in shrinking figures and increasing costs. Small increase or not, people buying it up at that marked up price will make Hasbro realize we are idiots and will just spend anything on whatever they give us.
