Are you 100% sure that the price raise is all on Hasbro? Is there any evidence to support that?

Ive seen interviews and reports on many TF fan sites and FB over the years stating that Hasbro, Mattel and other toy companies have been fighting an uphill battle to keep toy costs down while trying to maintain or improving quality etc

Lots of people have been going all in on these last few lines. Not me but a lot of people have. You buy two deluxes now as compared to ER, you just lost a Battlemaster. That's not insignificant.

If $2 is causing that much strain on your wallet, perhaps you should stop buying toys.

Whatever happened to the old days when a Deluxe class figure retailed for $9.99?

    Isn't it $3?

Anyway, multiply that with a whole line of Deluxes and your looking at the cost of a Leader Class figure.

Is it that much? Of course not, but in the end, it's are the figures worth the extra money to an individual?

Inflation? The Fed is actually worried about deflation at the moment.

Traditionally, the justification for increased action figure prices and decreased plastic has been oil prices, which are down.

The $9.98 Titans Return headmasters are what got me back into the hobby.

I appreciate the increased articulation over G1, not being a "brick," but there are limits to how much articulation I need on a toy robot. I don't need them to do gymnastics and ballet. The same goes for other action figures. I wish Super7's Reaction line copied G.I. Joe ARAH articulation instead of original Star Wars. I would buy 90% of them if they did. However, some figures get to the point where they can do things I don't need them to do, and it just harms their look and increases cost.

I really feel like we're in an embarrassment of riches at this point on retail TFs. I remember buying every RID I could find because Hasbro was finally returning to robots that looked like robots and some of the characters I remembered, but I wouldn't touch those today as the last few years of Generations have far exceeded them in terms of the aesthetic and characters I prefer. IIRC, RID did excel in having some actual rubber tires and less hollow parts.

I think those days ended around 2007, that was when deluxe class figures started to retail for $12-$13.

This sucks, but I'm not going to pretend this is going to price me out of collecting deluxes, just make me think a lot harder about whether I actually want the figure or if I'm just buying them to fill space. I miss the days of $9.99 deluxes.

Funny enough, the first time we saw a genuine line-wide price increase was with ROTF back in 2009, and with that increase we actually got larger and/or more complex figures. So everyone was mostly fine with it.

Of course, price and size / parts count have seen an inverse relationship since then. Cliffjumper was already pushing it as a $20 figure, but as a $23 figure? Really?

Honestly though that's not some big secret or a new thing. Even the movie "Big" back in 1988 made a joke about the cost to produce a toy over what they charge at retail.

Of course, but I don't care how much posturing people tend to do in these threads, that's not going to happen here. Besides, even if it did, lower sales figures would likely only be used to justify smaller production runs and even more premium pricing.

Damn, dude. You're too cheap to pay an extra $2 AND you want a handout? Get a job, lol!
