Do you want Transformers as a summer blockbuster or a holiday film like Bumblebee? This has nothing to do with the storytelling on each film just what kind of scale you want these films on.

What time of the year a movie comes out is literally the last indicator of personal enjoyment.

I think it all depends on what the competition will be. The Transformers film franchise is going to have an uphill battle to get to where it once was financially so finding the right release date is critical. I'd say that around Christmas would be an ideal time if they are sticking with the "family" feel of Bumblebee but I don't think it'd fare too well against a Star Wars movie or Avatar 2.

Star wars will be taking a break until 2022 but Avatar 2 will be tricky

I think it should be a summer flick. It's been that, always, even the 1986 movie.

I'm in favor of Transformers being summer movies. I prefer all big movies be summer movies, honestly. Or at least not-December movies. Christmas time tends to be a pretty busy time of year, I find that seeing a movie around Christmas isn't as memorable as seeing one during the summer (when almost nothing is going on). Friends get busy that time of year and don't want to go to the movies. Plus, it requires an extra trip out in cold snowy weather. It's just kind of a messy time to go to the theater. I'd rather just stay home and watch a Christmas movie.

Transformers movies tend to be big fun outdoorsy adventure movies that usually take place in warm weather. They're the kind of movies that make kids want to go out and play with their toys in the backyard. Bumblebee really should have been released in the summer. I mean, part of the plot involved Charlie working a summer job. There were beach scenes. It had bright warm color grading. The whole movie gives off strong summer vibes. You just want to step out of the movie theater and get wrapped up in an adventure of your own.

My preference would be early to mid August. That way they avoid competing with the earlier summer releases (which pretty much happen every week). By August, most of the big movies have already come and gone. It also would give students one last summer outing before going back to school.

Actually the time of the year does play a factor in what type of film we get.

This. The Bumble Bee Movie should’ve came out during the Summer.

Ps.I rather take the cold over the heat. And I have a love-relationship with snow and ice.

Wasn't Bumblebee originally going to be released in the summer but pushed back for reshoots or something? It certainly felt like it was intended to be a Summer movie since thats when it takes place. I prefer the the June/ July dates of the first 5.

But you have to see how I see it.

Yes, there was a time when big budget blockbusters were few and far between, but those days have been ogre for over a decade or more. Nowadays, big budget blockbusters, solo super hero flicks, CGI animated films, etc., are coming out all of the time. Perhaps one day, the trend of market oversaturation will end, and ensemble super hero, Transformers, Star Wars, Fast and Furious, etc., etc., etc., will be as rare as high profile Westerns are now. It hasn't happened yet.

These days, there is going to be competition regardless. If they're lucky, maybe there's a window of a couple weekends in a row without big budget or family film competition.

IMO, it was a stupid decision to release Bumblebee during Winter-especially with the competition it was up against AND the still-stenchy aftertaste of the bayverse still lingering around. Therefore, it took BB awhile to get the love it deserved (at least domestically), and the overseas box office reception was the turning point for it. I say Summer should be when they (IF there are any more) release-HasbroMount really needs to smartly strategize their next moves, IF they want any future entries to do well. Chess, NOT Checkers;) . . .

And still had to contend with Spiderverse and supposedly Mary Poppins.
