I like it as a fun function, but found it makes holding stuff just a tad too wiggly….
But I’m cool with it being on Star Saber.
After all, I LOVE siege Jetfire.

I’ve found of all the generations, MP or 3p offerings out there, the best and most sturdy way of having moveable fingers and retain amazing grip is the design MakeToys uses (the way it slots in).
But I’ll take this nifty Jetfire-esque gimmick.
Just hope that sword isn’t too wiggly in Star Saber’s hands as a result.

Wow, just wow. People like you really amaze me. You shouldn't just excuse Hasbro's design team on this one. This isn't a $20 or even $40 toy. It's $180. That's not cheap. Plus with the amount of money it made they could easily afford some better engineering. Hasbro is just being super greedy about this feature. It would have been easy to just copy a 3P company who does it better cheaper. That's the really sad part, they do it better cheaper. Hasbro made JUST SHORT of $5 million on this. Let's be super conservative and say that molds plus plastic costs plus shipping wound up being $3 million (no way it's near that high, but again just being conservative). That's still well over $1.5 million in profit. For that they could easily hire a few engineers to work on this (b/c it's not taking a toy maker more than a few months to make this). So no, you can't just cut them a break b/c it's $180 instead of $200. They are cheating on articulation plain and simple for that pose. The joint looks horrible and is poorly engineered. Hasbro has the funds and SHOULD have the most skilled toy engineers on the market but they clearly don't. Why? Greed. Flat out greed. They must not pay well enough b/c otherwise these 3P designers would go work for them. I'm sure Hasbro has explored that option and decided their current teams are "good enough" for what they pay them.

I finally had a chance to sit down and watch the video. My basic take away is that this is a deeply satisfying figure in almost every way. Fantastic shooting location to hear all of those ratchets and tabs really click. A lot of thought has been put into all of the options for weapon storage. Great to see multiple connection points for the various sections to maximize stability. Amazing articulation, which is key for the character.

Really looking forward to the next update!

I'm very glad I decided to back this. I really struggled with justifying getting this, until someone on here mentioned how excited there kid was about it, & I was like "duh, this is a giant toy, probably one of the biggest my kids will ever see in this household, this will blow their minds!" Still haven't shown them or told them about it, think I'll just let it show up and be a complete surprise!

Fire Dagwon and Gaogaigar are such great designs. It'd be nice to get an SoC of Dagwon one day.
I see what you're saying. Star Saber definitely has some gundam influence but he has a lot more in common with the Super Robot look.

I'm guessing it's what we consider chrome or vac metal, except not the whole piece but just part of it.

Similar to how they did the gold chrome parts on MP Star Saber.

Not impressed so far after watching the video review of the prototype. Not going to rant positives / negatives.

I think this will be a highlight of the CHUG line and it looks like a really fun cool toy. I had the MP but eventually sold it as the character does absolutely nothing for me. Glad the backers are satisfied with their purchases, and everyone else that didn't we get to live vicariously through you.

That’s exactly what it is. You can’t vacuum metallize only that one surface on a larger piece of plastic, so they take the same foil material and heat bond it with a stamp instead.

Nope. It was a limited-time-only thing. Only choice is after-market prices. You can also check stores like the Big Bad Toy Store or Show.Z for stock. Chances are, orders for this figure were made by some of these places because they want to sell a few.

    I do wonder if there's a chance for a 3rd party KO.

Unless it’s just not shown in this new update didn’t he come with 2 micro masters as well or did we not meet that goal?

They didn't come with this sample for some reason. Evan states that they should have samples of the micros next update.

Right - Evan said that since they were existing molds they weren't included in this EP1 sample.

Wait...isn't Leo supposed to be a comparable size to Star Saber?

Scale wise, yes, but they made him smaller for better proportions and stability in combined mode.
