I cant tell if i want this or not. I know nothing of the characters. Part of me wants it i thinks since it is a transformer. Part of me doesnt want it since it doesnt amaze me. Plus i have to start being picking about adding to the collection. Kinda running out of room. Maybe colors would help.

I am just saying that anything can happen between now and then and it seems odd to me that that’s how they accept payment[/QUOTE]

Perhaps start by watching YouTube videos of the original G1 toy. That'll help you decide if you want something similar to that in your collection. Otherwise, if the only reason you want this is because it's new and shiny and the campaign atmosphere is telling you that you should want it, then maybe it's not for you.

They want forms of payment that you can't easily weasel out from. This project getting started is contingent on the money being there, not to have to chase down a significant portion of it when people get spooked and delist their credit card from PayPal or whatever crap you could pull to attempt to avoid paying.

And I know there's always that "but what if?" nag when dealing with significant chunks of money. But if a mere $180 is enough to provoke those thoughts, then you have to have a good, long thought about what $180 is worth to you. Because it's probably best not spent on a toy that you won't have in your hands for at least another year.

I use it plenty :p . My sense of humour is just wry enough that I generally don't bother to blue-text the sarcasm.

[edit] A few pages back, we were discussing the semantics of Hasbro calling this their "first Japanese canon figure". While that could be argued either way, there's a definitely lapse in research there when they say this is his first action figure since 1989, outside the MP. He had a non-transforming SCF release, plus the Robot Masters figure.

Could have something to do with the fact they refuse to become involved with the two newer forms of payment that are subject to less regulation & investor unease - the whole Fraud Picture so to speak & currency conversion - of APP Cash products & Digital Currencies. Being a product in the future, subject to all preorder merchandise regulations, there are no refund mechanisms in place to reverse for equivalent value. They truly have no reason to add forms of payment for a project like this that cause them litigation only on the form of payment before reaching the product.

Or, put more simply, It's All California's Fault!

Yeah, we went through that whole discussion before, and the best I could come up with is that this is Hasbro's first figure designed with the express purpose of being a Japanese character only. They've released a lot of Japanese characters before, but only as recolours and retools of American ones. Overlord escapes on a technicality.

I would rather them spend money on, uh, toys than do flashy presentations that no one will remember in a week.

In GA all Five Below (similar to Dollar General but more high scale) stores got a ton of stock of TR Shuffler and TR Ramhorns. In fact tfw2005 members found out there was a variant in Ramhorn with a light brown version and a dark brown version and the hunt was on for both versions. In fact, I bought dozens of both TR Ramhorn sets for members here and mailed them out.

Well, yeah. Ultimately, all those "rare" figures have to end up somewhere. They're still produced en-masse (outside of actual cancellations, which is very rare, but has happened before, like with the tail-end of Dark of the Moon), they're just not distributed properly for whatever reason. Often just dumped unceremoniously into the inventory of some outlet store.

Ima just say it. I hope this doesnt reach its goal. Between the shitty distribution, fucking exclusives and now taking what should be 2 leader/commander class figs and making it hard to obtain without insane import tax/shipping, i am SO fed up with how hasbro treats its customers outside of the US and asia (cuz like in singapore, every fig is available in like specialty shops)

Its so disgusting how they artificially create scarcity. I still dont have a skywarp because hes always an exclusive.

Don't worry, VS absolutely WILL be funded. It's going to be a slow slog I'm sure, but the moment the orders (through whatever middleman site) from Japan are added to the tally you're going to see this EXPLODE.

While I understand the frustration when you're a fan in the middle of one of those distribution black holes, ultimately, it's not Hasbro's fault, but a problem for world economics at large. The world market is simply shrinking, and much more rapidly so for non-essential luxuries like toys, and eventually it gets to the point where it's simply not worth the money to keep catering to remote, isolated markets.

I saw Star Saber next to Galactus... And I'm thinking about changing my hobby. This is really cheap and hollow. I'll stick to the MP and Simba, although the combination is terrible.

I really don't doubt that it will. The low-ish price tag helps this project immensely. Similar production minimum to Unicron, but we're already triple the first-day pledges of that figure, and we're a third of the way to having the project fully-backed already.

Galactus hit at least two of his stretch goals, and I very much doubt he had much, if any, of the Asian market to fall back on (Marvel is a much bigger house name than Transformers, with a more storied fan-base, mind, but still).
