Oh no I know that. I mean if to investors and what not they only claimed to have sold 19 750, but to the public they claimed it 20 000, would that then be fraud? Because that’s where my mind first went when I heard fudging the numbers.

Technically, I think that could still be considered fraud because they would be publicly and willfully deceiving their customers

Fudging the numbers would be illegal. But manipulating the numbers is something else. Say hypothetically Hasbro asks 150 employees to buy into The Star Saber campaign but then come Christmas time those employees find an extra $200 end of the year bonus. That’s sketchy but not illegal. It’s more like when kids’ parents buy a few more boxes of candy/popcorn so that the little league team can get those new uniforms.

Even if Hasbro does a numbers game for this campaign, I doubt we can do anything about it short of a lawsuit (And I doubt most of us here would do that anyway). The main goal is to get star saber over the finish line.

I doubt it won't make the numbers on it's own without any shenanigans. Seriously people, it's at 9530 backers with 12 days to go and orders still to be added. Why are some of you so worried that you want Hasbro to commit fraud?

I think atleast one of them just want them to do it for the tiers, since they said 20,000, which would be the shield tier

Getting a shield made is not worth Hasbro committing fraud, especially considering we all know that a 3p is likely to make the shield if it ends up not reaching that tier.

Heck, I can imagine that 3rd party has already drawn up plans for fillers, the shield, a "better" stand, and whatever else they can milk from it. Wouldn't be surprised if they'd get access to the figure from the factory to get the specs on it so they can get the production going asap.

Whether official or 3rd party, someone will correct any possible Hasbro mistakes there might be from this.

Cookie Monster was probably the item I was most excited about that never came to fruition....

If Hasbro was fudging numbers; they should have fudged those lol

I’m getting the idea if it doesn’t reach the shield tier some are going to be more focused on that then being excited about the other successes. Worse case scenario it doesn’t reach it and if you really need this shield good chances a 3P makes it. Also stop worrying about takara and Japanese fans unless you are one of those fans yourself It gets you nowhere lol

I honestly doubt it won't reach the 3rd tier. Every HasLab after Unicron has gotten over 20,000 backers each and met most of their stretch goals; Sentinel 21,887 backers, Razor Crest 28,137 backers, HeroQuest between 24,813 - 37,220 backers (due to the nature of the campaign we only have a range of potential backers), and Galactus 32,202 backers. HeroQuest only missed two of the stretch goals out of 16 and Hasbro actually announced recently that they were going to make those goals anyways. The only way this wouldn't reach the 3rd tier is if there were absolutely 0 3p retailer orders and we know from people commenting on this thread that is not the case.

It would be a very odd situation if it came up just short of one of the tiers, like within a couple hundred, and we were left with the question of if they'd do it anyways. I don't think there's any way it gets that close and Hasbro doesn't cut a deal with some partners to buy a few more and actually hit it, or the third parties who can afford more don't make up that difference themselves right at the end. This is a bit different of a situation but it is worth nothing that they did make a special exception with HeroQuest. It ended with $3.7 mil, it needed $3.8 mil for an extra Gargoyle and $4.0 mil for the Joe Manganiello content. What they're doing now is skipping the Gargoyle entirely but still including the Joe Manganiello content for the higher tier backers. What makes it different is that Joe Manganiello doesn't work for Hasbro and would have been paid to produce this content, so he may have cut a deal for a smaller fee in order to get the content in there because they'd all rather it be released anyways. It is also said that HeroQuest will have a version at retail eventually so they can also be eating the costs now knowing the retail release will make it back later. None of those conditions would apply here if we somehow come up short.

Fwiw if it came across as me being worried about not making it I wasn’t trying to imply that. I was merely raising a hypothetical.

It's human nature to be suspicious of things you can not see for yourself, the downside is you start to see boogie men where there are none. If left unchecked you start to assume conspiracy theories. Then it's a gateway to making up imaginary profit margins and claiming feelings for facts. From this point all hope is lost...

Good deal. Pretty confident it will at least get produced. Now see which extra goodies we get.
