I hope for the opposite, actually. I want a Godbomber that is designed from the ground up alongside a new Ginrai/PMOP, so that all of his components integrate as well as possible. Design it to be God Ginrai and work backwrds from there, not Super Ginrai/PMOP and an afterthought Godbomber.

Oh I agree it should first and foremost be meant for PMOP/ Ginrai. I just also hope you’re able to have it interact with other figures.

other then Marvel missing the power master, that looks like 2 different artistic styles of the exact same character to me. I mean, I guess the way the cab is sits in the trailer is missing on Marvel.
that's pretty remarkable how similar the track is to Galactus.

That would be great, imagine being able to apex armor up Star Saber or anyone else for that matter. Sure it would fit like a second skin on Ginrai but the play factor would be amazing!

The combos, oh the combos... Especially if Victory Leo works like the weaponizers too. And for grins and giggles you combine them to be Victory Bomber or Apex Leo

That's the in-universe explanation. I was only addressing why, in the real world, Japan would do such a thing. Having made the decision to go the Ginrai route, they then had to justify the obvious similarity in-universe, but don't get the order mixed up. The toy is clearly an Optimus Prime toy.

So there's some odd that I'm looking forward to with this set. Since the return of combiners in 2015ish I started noticing that when you attach a combiner component there is a very noticeable weight increase that's very satisfying and I think Victory Leo will give me that.

the graph is nice, but a bit misleading since we need 14,000 backers to get the V Lock Cannon. and 20,000 backers for Tier 3

pretty sure we'll get to 14,000 but if we don't I really don't want it. Now if Hasbro Asia opens it up, we'll easily get to 20,000.

I'd say it's a Longshot that we land between 11k and 14k, but if we do there will be TONS of 3p companies making replacement v-lock cannons

TT owns the Transformers brand for their own domestic market only.

I'm not sure about other parts of the globe but in Asia, Hasbro Asia is the main distributor for TT TF collectible toylines.

Not weird at all (if it is an accurate description of the situation). It is very much like regional rights in publishing.

There's publishing rights based on region, but those are not quite like Transformers' "My Two Dads" situation. Takara doesn't just release Transformers in Japan as the regions distributor, they're also involved in creating Transformers toys and content in the first place.

I like your charts - but Unicron may end up being the exception vs. the pattern for one very large reason - it represents the only project that they not only had to stretch the time frame for (no longer the only project for the same price point), but also one that they had to add affiliate orders in twice during the main time window to order to inspire orders from the public for. Unless it is known that they have added affiliate orders in the middle of other project windows, better start praying for Asia orders or very large affiliate orders to appear. I am not relying upon affiliates to make stretch goals - I consider them to be the gravy Hasbro relies upon to pad their profit only. If the fans can't make stretch goals, that will speak volumes to Hasbro on the future plans for JG1 projects.

Wonder if the money being spent on Galactus / stockpiled by people awaiting the Star Wars Haslab project is/are in any way playing with this as well as the pile of people no longer working?

Unicron was also by far and away the most expensive of the HasLab projects, so it's not entirely without reason that the project's momentum wasn't as apparent as the others.

Still, the fact that it ultimately outsold its goal by 50% means that there was a lot more movement behind the scenes that we weren't able to track, but Hasbro probably was.

If I was a betting man I'd say hasbro are waiting to see how popular J characters are in the west in terms of backers before unleashing the Asian Market in this. Its a bit of marketing on their part. If the west get near enough to the total I can see hasbro sayong let's do more.

Soooooo... the halfway point of the campaign came and went with the announcement of the tier 2 stand.... with appx 2 weeks left, will this Friday be the FFF they show off something with a splash of color? Or are they saving that for the last week to support him???? Maybe it's a big surprise for the last 60 hours?

.... do they realize there is a fairly large crowd holding back until they see what VS looks like in color? Or is this a psych 101 experiment to see how many people they can get on just grey renders and a flimsy 3d print?
