The more I think about it, the more I'm unclear on why the current "standing in a barrel" concept wouldn't have worked in addition to an elevator. Then we could have had our elevator action (my brain is cueing up the music from the 1980s classic arcade game every time I see that phrase) and a neck that turns, too!

The face wasn't part of the Brain of Courage figure on the MP, though. It was within the larger figure, and simply pushed up by the Brain of Courage figure. Between the two cheats, I actually prefer the current one.

Numbers shmumbers. At the current rate of growth, which ranges between 30-60 backers daily without spikes or events, we are reaching 75% by end of day

If anyone is curious about numbers. I didn't always get the number exactly at 7:30 but it's been within an hour

We've got 20 days left and we still have zero news on whether or not this project will be opened up to the Japanese audience?

It could have worked but would have cost more to produce and the design team may have been shooting for a certain price range during the design phase. One thing a lot of people don't realize about producing anything that it is expected that parts will be produced incorrectly, ie warped pieces, and this is considered when determining the cost of the product. Having the elevator-faceplate gimmick on a working drum would require a lot of small and intricate parts that would increase the cost quite a bit.

Given the current projection of daily new backers, could we reach 14k? The stand is nice but not necessary, so ultimately I just hope we get enough for the V-Lock cannon.

One of the few times a modern update was not unquestionably better than the original. Especially when you consider the Japanese one has guns and the Hasbro one...doesn't.

On top of that, small parts are fragile by nature so accidently break one and you're pretty much screwed with a non-functioning gimmick. Metal casting the parts would protect against that for the most part but would also make the price skyrocket.

Is it possible this design is something that'll translate easier to additional figures/transformations compared to something like that? Like they don't want to get stuck in a situation where Brain of Courage/Saber work one very specific way and now if they do future Brains at retail you can't swap Courage and those around?

    Here's a handy audio guide.

I've no doubt you are correct. This is something I'd have gladly paid extra for (of course, I'm assuming a certain range of how much that "extra" would have been, and we'll never know for certain).

And there's also a risk of failure. Perhaps they tested different designs for the brains and the sliding one just had a higher failure risk. Especially since, based on what they showed us, this Brain of Courage is *much* smaller than the G1 version that supported the gimmick.

Me too. I have a general idea what they look like in color, however JG1 isn't something I would pretend to know anything about other than a few Big Names.

I wonder what the Vegas odds of this project hitting each goal would be?

I'm imagining a secret betting pool on the forum that's private message invite only. I can smell the beer and cigar smoke already!

While it might be nice to see them kick in on this, why does it matter? Honestly, why? Is it's a numbers thing or some pretense about it not being fair for them?

If it's about fairness, let's look at all the chug line figures we never got that were Japan only exclusives. We had to take measures to use other sales channels to get the toys. It's not to different here.

But that aside, we are on track to get this funded with out Japan and I think that says volumes about the fandom outside of Japan and how much we want the toys too!

typically these campaigns have really kicked into overdrive last week/day. I'd be pretty surprised if we don't hit 14k or even 20... but feels like they could help themselves, rolling out color shots and transformation videos and the like and a final tier that actually moves the needle on desirability

(I like the flight stand – a lot, actually – but that's not pulling anyone off the fence.)

I just want as many numbers as we can get so the V-Lock cannon gets made.

I don't care if they live on the moon, let em buy in!

    Ditto.

I can see this being probably the main reason. Not to mention, if the other Brainmasters get the green light, they probably won't want to have to worry about the barrel bodies that the three cars had to deal with.

And yet, I'm still disappointed. I just think there could have been another work around...but who knows?

If there was one, it would be in the Supporter Only Fuzzy Forum.

Obviously Hasbro isn't making this out of the sheer kindness of their hearts and the $2.2 million total is just to break even on making the figure, there is profit involved.

Thus, given the whole Victory Saber figure group would have far more awareness in Japan where the character was actually prominent as opposed to just collectors in the west, why would Hasbro/Takara say no to having more money? Not opening orders in Japan is tantamount to basically ignoring an unfathomably large pile of money on the table.
