No guarantee there. Compare Earth Wars BW designs to Kingdom.

I'm not even picking out anything from that Earth Wars Star Saber design that makes it look different from any other regular depiction of Star Saber.

Besides, you know, being the low-res blocky cellphone game CGI build everybody in that game is.

Yeah, I think there's a strong possibility that these specific toys could get a retail release after this. It's not like the HasLab page makes any promises that this will be the only way to get them and if this is really successful and shows JG1 is a viable franchise they're not going to hold back one of the most powerful characters or design a new toy just for retail.

If it happens though, hoo boy are some people going to be very angry.

If they would release VS outside the Haslab, I'd only get angry if it was for a lower price, but otherwise I think I'd be fine.

Promises (or lack thereof) notwithstanding, I think it extremely unlikely that any HasLab items, in any franchise, should be released at retail.

I mean, even with Unicron, Hasbro specifically gave themselves legal wiggle room so it could happen. But I don't think it's likely ever to happen.

The only HasLab so far that has been soft confirmed by the team involved to be getting a retail release is HeroQuest. The $99.99 version of the game will go to retail but will be missing the gender swapped hero minis (Pulse exclusives) and a couple other minis that were stated to only be available with that tier during the HasLab campaign. Outside of that I wouldn't expect Hasbro to release any other HasLab project at retail. It just seems unlikely as I feel that if there was an avenue for those figures they would have released them there to begin with instead of making them HasLab projects.

I mean they could.... But at $650 price tag or higher with the cost of things now. Hasbro would be looking at pitchforks on the left screaming about price, and pitchforks on the right yelling limited release. Maybe in ten to twenty years they will revisit it. But one thing we can agree on is that Armada Prime will still just be a twinkle in the eye of some engineer when it happens :p

Let's say it does go for retail release. If I were marketing I would split the set up. So Saber/ Star Saber would be a set, with cost and combining we would see it at about the $100 - $120 price tag. Leo having two forms plus being a weaponizer for only Star Saber will likely be around $80 - $90. This is of course with out the extra tiers add-ons. Because of the demand one or both would be store exclusives as well.

I would not want to be part of that s-show trying to get my hands on one... And thus I am glad I got two from HasLab without losing my sanity.

Will be putting my hat in with the rest at the end of this month. Gettimg 5 Victory Sabers. 2 for two friends. Ones actually a gundam collector, but he likes the looks of SS, since has that Gundam aesthetic. The other 3 for me. Going keep one set combined, one set seperate for fiddling with, and one misb.

Now for something completely off the rails if JG1 characters really take off!
Would love hasbro to do the 9 Destron Generals from Zone. And Violent Jiger too!!!
Wishful thinking I know. That would be freaking cool tho.

I think the main reason to not release this later at retail is all the people that will say “I’ll just wait for the retail version.” when they launch the next HasLab project.

Well the Earth Wars guys predated Kingdom by a number of years so that's not entirely fair

And that would lead to "I'll wait for a sale/I'll wait for clearance/ I'll wait for a discount store/ I'll wait for a KO"

Nah, I'll be there ordering the Haslab products I want directly from them.

Depends. It would have to fit into the existing size classes for retail. And while we haven't gotten a great look at their relative sizes, it sure looks like that would put SS at Commander and Victory Leo at Leader. Maybe a tall voyager, but he has quite a bit of mass for his size. That would not only gobble up the slots in the retail rotation at those sizes, but would also come out to something like $50 cheaper.

And that, my friends, is how you ensure that no TF Haslab ever gets funded again. Between the cries of "Betrayal!" from those who paid more to get it from the Haslab, you'd get the crowd who would refuse to drop coin on any Haslab ever again because "I can just get it cheaper when it hits retail." You'd sound the death knell of the entire line, because the org can't be trusted and you can just get the item for cheaper later. Would you pre-order knowing that? Maybe the FOMO of "well, what if this one DOESN'T get a retail release" would be enough to motivate some. But then imagine the outcry and the recriminations when the next TF Haslab that manages to get funded doesn't get a later release at retail, and you can add the fury of the people who refused to get in early counting on that later avenue and now feel like they've been excluded and stabbed in the back.

Now, it may be that they do something like sell the entire set at Titan class, and the commensurate pricing. Keep it more or less in line. That will upset people less, certainly. But the underlying problem with hold outs and free riders will persist. Nothing about releasing these at retail later works out well for Hasbro from a PR and customer retention standpoint. And maybe they decide there is enough profit to be made to justify it anyway, but it's hard to imagine that calculation paying off unless it's something like Takara doing a general retail release in Asian markets (where SS is already super popular). And even then the bitching and moaning will be truly extraordinary if the import price comes out cheaper somehow.

They would need an extremely compelling business case for retail-releasing a Haslab project. The fallout alone would sour people from future projects, at the short term gain of a few units sold. Closest thing I could see them doing is a "second run" at the same price, but with a set backer number that would be the minimum number of orders needed to make a 2nd run worthwhile

Something like a 10-year Anniversary Edition, on Haslab again and adjusted for inflation - that I could potentially see.

Just a month left to go and with 7,500 backers, the question that remains now is not whether or not Victory Saber will be funded, but whether or not the stretch goals will be funded

1 figure out of all of wfc shares engineering (that isn't a remold or rerelease of a Prime Wars mold), that doesn't really contradict what I said and is more an exception to the rule, especially considering it's borrowing from a design that was actually released. That doesn't lend any credence to the idea that Ultra Magnus, Shockwave, Hound and Arcee that were released in WFC are reworked versions of their POTP concepts and people need to stop pushing that theory like it's fact.
