I was a little surprised this wasn't a $300 that had both. But since they had trouble funding Unicron at $400 this lower price point makes sense

Eeeehhhhhhh.... on the one hand he's not as expensive I was expecting him to be, and I think he looks alright for the most part, I suppose. I'm also always happy to see more representation from Japanese G1 content, even if it's a timed exclusive.

Yet on the other this just looks like an inferior version of the Masterpiece toy, still waiting for MP Victory Leo Takara.

 

With him, it's daily life.

I think I'm happy enough with the MP. Got a month and a half to reconsider.

 

I think this is cool, but I have to work the budget numbers and stuffs. I have never had a StarSaber type fellow. Looks really cool.

 

This is an odd HasLab:

• The listing doesn't mention how tall the combined Victory Saber figure is despite that presumably being a major selling point,
• it confirms the 3 major individual components are only 5" deluxe-sized,
• it shows off a surprising amount of hollowness and similar issues on both Star Saber and Victory Leo,
• Victory Leo's V-Lock Cannon is relegated to a stretch goal,
• the page images appear to be in no particular order,
• and there's no digital renders of the figure in finished colors.

It lacks that "wow" factor that a HasLab campaign should have, it almost feels like this idea was conceived for the main line as a Commander-Class and then scuttled early in preproduction, handed over to the fans to decide how passionate they would be about Victory Saber instead of letting the market kill it or save it. I have no problem letting fans back this via crowdfunding, but this is a sloppy campaign out the gate. This looks like $80 of product for 2.25x as much money, and I don't think they're doing a good job justifying that price increase on the HasLab site. At nearly $200, any Transformer should have filler parts for hollowness and screw holes, panels to cover limb gaps -- look at Commander-class Kingdom Rodimus Prime, he's an upcharged figure to get those parts filled and covered while adding articulation. This all seems baffling.

I truly hope Victory fans are happy with this set and they get the necessary backing to deliver the $2 mil in funding and beyond, I just don't think Hasbro's done their part to help fans get there on this specific campaign.

 

If this thing gets made I hope someone makes an add on to give it a look similar to the flame toys version

 

Well damn, looks like Hasbro finally got me to do this crowdfunding crap 

 

Looks nice. Saber is a bit on the chunky side, and I definitely hope someone will release a sword upgrade, but as a whole, I'm digging it. Star Saber looks super cool.

 

Also, I think it’s highly unlikely they’d come up with all this new Brainmaster engineering for just one figure, so I’d say if this gets funded it’s much more likely we get Road Caes… er, Big Motorvator too!

Strange, in the first 5 minutes of this starting they literally credit Yuki-San as the designer of this. It must be embarrassing to constantly make comments which are so easily proven to be demonstrably false.

 

Stretch goal: Pack of 12 girder beams and a bag of stone-colored gravel for construction site dioramas.

Which honestly, I'd love.

I don't particularly care. As long as Takaratomy designers were not represented on the stream Hasbro reps were all gushing like it was 100% their main efforts. Hard pass.
